No. Most religions tell you everything about it for free. You can leave other churches if you want to, they might not be pleased, but you still have the option.
With Scientology, you have to pay thousands of dollars. And if you want to leave Scientology, you'd be harrassed, paid a huge bill, and if your family members are Scientologists, they'd be forced to separate themselves from you.

I'm for tolerance, but Scientology is just...it's just what the heck! At least Islam has connections with the other monotheistic faiths >__> At least it has CULTURE all that stuff. Scientology is too young a "religion" to actually have any merit.

I believe, this means Scientology, a pseudo-religion founded by a sci-fi writer Ron Hubbard, with a "$" mark used to accent its interest in draining its followers' money rather than giving them any form of spiritual salvation. C.O.

i don't think it fits in as a religion or a cult, it's just a scam all together and has no history at least other religions have a pretty decent history. Plus since when is Science and Religion? Most anybody who believes in Scientific things only don't have and supernatural/spiritual/faith/ or any quality of belief that would make a religion. I agree with this stamp, but unlike most others i don't think it applies to ALL religions, although it might apply to the way some religious buildings/churches/ affairs might be run, Via the priest/monk/pastor/guru or what have you.

Most Scientologists are okay, you gotta watch out for the ones who chose, they're like born-again Christians, they become obsessed. That's why some people believe Tom Cruise isn't sane....I think he's just fine. I just go with the flow, even if they're Muslim. My little stepsister's Muslim, I'm fine with it.
They're ten times more sane than the Westboro Baptist Church.
Beck is also a Scientologist, but with him it's one of those "I was born into it" situations. It depends on the individual.

But I have to disagree with you. I'm not scientologist, but if it makes the people who believe it happy, then it's doing it's job. That's /every/ religions' job. If you disagree with them, that's fine, but don't downplay being different.

This is a very late comment, but I feel like pointing something out:
Scientology kills people.
And I don't mean a few crazies who take the religion too far, because there are people like that everywhere, but the religion itself, even when not taken too far, kills.
And it supports robbing, suing, even physically harming those who criticize it.

-Scientology is not a religion, it is a cult, defined by the fact that is a system that is very difficult to leave.
-Scientology manipulates people into conformity through blackmail
-it is not the 'job' of religions to manipulate and control their followers nor legally threaten them, alienate them from their families and friends, get them fired from their jobs etc when they try to leave the system
I strongly recommend you give this podcast a listen as it gives a very interesting insight into what it is like to be a member of the cult, and you may change your opinion afterwards.

I just hate it when in school, the teachers try and make you believe that Science is true, and that religion is a load of bull shit. I'm glad that, when my Social Studies teacher taught us about Evolution and what religions believe, she didn't say whether one thing was true or what she believed in. Go Mrs. Johnson-Morales

If they try to say that, that's ... um.. illegal. If they teach the big bang or anything that they have to say that this is not nessicarily true, but it is what science dictates. So.. They have to distinguish religion from science, and support neither.
