Anyone ever heard of Philip de Laszlo? Holy cannoli, his work is AMAZING! [link]
Anyway, I used one of his paintings [link] as a reference and an excuse to draw Christine's big hair under an equally big hat. Why don't people still dress like this? It's so much more fun. You could...like...hide things in that big hair.
Yes, I realize the clothing is more 1906 than 1881, but ONCE AGAIN ARTISTIC LIBERTIES PEOPLE. Also, Christine would have been older by this point but ARTISTIC LIB---

I'm in a musical called little Mary Sunshine and I am playing little Mary. As I browsed through your collection I noticed something, I look very similar to Christine in this picture in my costume. It's so similar that I took a picture of myself in her pose and I plan to draw it. I'll post it when I'm done, you should check it out!

Indeed! We should all dress vintage style again - and then you could forget about the hair: just think of what you could stuff under a bustle!
Beautiful shading, by the way, the folds look so crisp, the shadows look stark despite the softness of Christine's person, and the cross-hatched background works so well with the subject.
And I'm so sorry Keats, but Mary Poppins was the first thing I thought of when I read that title...

Oh, very well done! You do fabric and drapery so well. And yes, she does look mature but no less beautiful, so it's quite believable in terms of time having passed. This is a woman with stories to tell about a life well lived and full of secrets and joys.

Somehow Christine reminds me now a bit of her entrance during Love Never Dies, you know the moment she leaves the ship and sets foot on America? (no, we don't discuss further on LVN, although the music is not that bad, except a few...)

She's so beautiful! And it looks so classy! Her neck looks a bit on the long side but I love her expression and the dress. Y'know I always wondered if Christine was really that thin but I found a pic of the woman that inspired her.

They don't dress like this because they're lazy... and can you just imagine how long it would take to get all that dolled up? Not to mention, poofy dressed don't ride in cars very well. Trust me, I'm a cosplayer. It's funny, but quite demeaning to have to be stuffed into a car.

Yeah, there's certainly something to be said for jeans and a t-shirt! (And as for being stuffed into a car wearing clothes like that, I know how you feel. I wore this massive hoop skirt once for a Victorian-themed art show, and I seriously thought I would be stuck in the car for the rest of my days. It was so large I was trapped.)
