CONFUSED YETTT? LOOOOL.SO this is more like a process with a bunch of scibbled notes rather than a tutorial. I hope it's still understandable! OTL;; Sorry~
This is for ~Candygore69 since she won first prize in my contest about two months ago. She requested a tutorial on how I drew Dei's hair in some of my pictures.
BTW I change the process of how I draw hair EVERYTIME.
This process goes with the finished picture, and some of the steps apply to some of my older works.
I take about 30min - 2hours coloring hair. Have fun~ xDD
Feel free to ask questions to cause that's why I'm showing it to you guys too. :I

The problem is, this is only for one style of hair, and one style of art; as most of the SAI tutorials I find seem to be. Do you know of any more general tutorials?

Yeah, cause this tutorial was requested for a specific character's hair.

Hmm, i used a hard brush like pen to start off with haha. Eraser is also great to make clean edges. Also i usually add a sharpen filter at the very end.

What kind of brush did you use for Tobi's mask? The texture there looks really nice

Probably the same oil water brush as in the tutorial lol. I also have like 2 or 3 layers above the color layer for the mask, and those are set to either 'multiply' or 'addition'. And I know i'm using the a texture file from this tutorial - [link] .

i tried,i mean i only have problem for shapes,like diedara's hairs shadow shapes here are perfect,i dont know how to do it,like in Ps we Use Pen tool(which takes much time), how to do it in sai?

Uhm i think it's just switching between the pen brush and eraser constantly. Use hotkey to interchange easily. And then i usually always have my left hand on ctrl+z to quickly undo lines. You also need to learn how to have a good wrist movement to give a good stroke.
