I love the way you've used watercolors and drawings on each of the pages for this comic, and the transparency on the cat's body looks so great!  Keep up the good work!

Thank you! It's nice to hear. What i especially wanted to try out with this comic was how ink/watercolor textures would blend with somewhat flat digital colors.

I'd say it blends very well!  The quality of the watery texture is very nice too!  I've recently attempted something similar (orbitalprimeval.tumblr.com/pos… ), but, while I like the way it looks, I've been finding it difficult to get a nice watery feel for the backgrounds like you have.

Did you use actual watercolor/ink pictures for the textures or did you make them with digital brushes or something similar? I made a bunch of textures with ink and watercolors on paper just for this comic. I used mostly wet on wet technique to get that watery feel and painted all kinds of blotches, strokes and larger color areas. In Photoshop i usually used either multiply or overlay layer blending mode for texture layers and tons of color, opacity and contrast adjustments to get textures blend well with background. It was trial and error all the way.

I used watercolors and scanned them for the nebula-effect, but I think that I'll have to try more of what you mentioned with trying different layer effects and a stronger initial wet-on-wet technique to get it down well enough that I'm happy with it.  Thanks for the suggestions!
