Description
About the Title
The title comes from my own idea, not necessarily the view of Nintendo.
Basically, when a Meganium dies, the petals fall away, and the wind takes them beyond the horizon. Wherever they fall, a tree grows.

How had he become so strong?

Aurelius could feel it, deep down in his very core, that this Typhlosion was going to beat him. He could also sense that, after such an act, it would also make sure that he would never get up again. Revenge, he knew, was a thing that could ensnare a heart and control a mind. At this point, there was nothing any of them could do.

He roared, his signature Frenzy Plant exploding from beneath the battlefield. This had been his trump card before, had been the battle winner. But now, he watched as the Typhlosion, lost in a vortex of fury, dodged it and came after him again. Aurelius hadn't even scratched him, hadn't even touched him, and here he was, burned and bleeding, exhausted.

Somewhere nearby, he heard Columbus yelling, maybe screaming. He knew that the Feraligatr, still strong but slower than the Ninetales, would not be able to lay a claw on his love. That only left one cause for Columbus' distress - Aurelius' well-being, which was quickly deteriorating.

'Don't cry,' he thought, and suddenly he was sent flying backwards. His back was thrown against a rock, and before he could react again the flames engulfed him.

He couldn't feel the pain anymore.

By the time the embers subsided, he was already as good as gone. He raised his head, looking into the crimson eyes of his killer. For a moment, all was silent. They locked eyes, each defiant. Time slowed to a crawl, and he saw the fireball beginning to form in the Typhlosion's mouth. The killing blow.

Somewhere, a Butterfree slept peacefully while the Swellow let it be, the honor in the pokemon's heart mimicking that of all pokemon. Somewhere, later, an eevee would evolve and thus become something greater. Somewhere, all was right with the world.

Somewhere... was not here.

Some say that life passes before one's eyes when they know they're about to die. All Aurelius remembered was the first time he met Columbus. As a Bayleef, he accidentally ran into the vulpix in Amity Square... The shy little thing... He asked what his name was. Columbus. He replied with his own, asked if he wanted to play tag.

What a wonderful day it had been.

And all at once, the moment came surging back. Time was no longer on his side, and as he stared point-blank into the now massive fireball, he remained defiant.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Columbus running at the Typhlosion in a vain attempt to save him. The fire, finally too great to hold, swallowed him one last time.

'Don't cry...'
