yeah, sadly, i kinda stuck with her, but think i posted wip in summer, if you interested
i always have huge problems with coloring (due to the lack of experience, probably, since i rarely draw, and even more rarely get to the coloring part),  but i will try from the beginning

I hadn't looked that far back on your tumblr so I had missed it!! WOAHHH I am so in love with your take on her. The green hair is perfect and I love the color choice for her skin, lips, and eyebrows (two-colored eyebrows!!!)
I also loved the little bit at the bottom haha I'm gonna have to do fanart of her eventually.

For my Jellia, I think she's probably close to Dorothy's age and somewhat of a neat-freak. I decided to not only make her the housekeeper but also the head of all female staff in the palace. I think she's probably the one who gets all the hard-work done around the place She ended up being a bit chubby, but I kind of like that she has a realistic body type.

(my opera browser hates me, for some reasons i can't access most of the websites and particular pages - it starting to load and then goes blank. it's irritating. i've moved to safari but i don't remember DA password and it won't let me to update it. i have very complicated relationship with modern technologies. oh shit i can just type you name in the address line, can't i? that changes everything! omg your designs are amazing! i love Snow White's dress. Bastinda? wait, are you russian? i am russian. we can switch to russian. or even move the party to vk. i prefer the dress from the right bottom - i have a soft spot in my heart for edwardian. Snow Queen - wow! my wicked babes - i kinda ship them without knowing the story behind, i've listened the recording, but without reading the plot. Maleficent! East!!! Edith Pattou, right? I love this book SO MUCH. i even have secret recipe for lemonade named after it. and the cover! the cover of that book is the most pure perfection i've ever seen. and since i suspect are indeed russian you understand what cover i'm talking about. how are you so productive? i wish i could be that productive. Langwidere! she is my favorite mmmm supporting villain? well third book is generally my favorite so. queen of hearts! and the rabbit - colors! aww and your first watercolors are so cute))

I HAVE A WHOLE THEORY ON AGE AND NOT_DYING IN OZ
basically they all are just having an appearance of the age they feel themselves. kinda like Sofia's spell in Howl's Moving Castle. that explains why Ozma keeps changing her age in Neil's illustrations (beside the fact that he just reused his designs for ads). and how the small isolated country like Oz never gets overpopulated. and that really help me to ship Dorzma and stay true to my moral standards.

yeah, i like to think that she's mmm housekeeper? do they have those in castles? head of the maids and pretty much everybody else. the boss!

Hmm, well I suppose you can always revisit her later. Sometimes I have to just leave drawings aside until I feel more motivated or I have an idea that I think works really well.

Ugh I know EXACTLY how you feel about computers and other technologies. I got a new battery for my laptop in mid-December, and now it's not charging at all... I don't know what to do with this computer. It makes it really tough to draw if it shuts down every twenty minutes or so.

Yeah, Snow White was really fun to design. I think I want to do more dresses for her. She's too much fun to draw.
Haha, no I'm not Russian (although I do have a VK lol). My mother used to speak Russian and I used to be able to a little bit when I was younger, but I've forgotten most of it. But thanks to that I discovered the Russian Oz books by Volkov so my version of Oz is a mix of Baum and Volkov.
I really love the Edwardian time-period. I could stare at Edwardian architecture and clothes for hours without getting bored
I'm not really partial to Wicked because of how different it is from the original book series, but I do like it somewhat. Elphaba and Glinda are so much fun to ship and the music is gorgeous.

My only real hobby is drawing, and I actually made it a mission of mine to draw something every day. That way I can (hopefully) improve as time goes on.
YESSS LANGWIDERE!!!! I LOVE HER and the Nome King as well. The first three books are my favorite after that they all sort of become similar but I especially love the mood of Ozma of Oz. I'll definitely add drawing Langwidere to my list of things to do. I have an ongoing sketchdump of Oz things that I'll eventually post someday

OH MY GOSH THAT'S PERFECT!!! Actually a friend of mine and I were talking about the age thing a while back as well and we came up with something similar. Howl's Moving Castle is one of my favorite books and movies out there! So great!!

Idk if I used housekeeper as the right word... just the person who pretty much takes care of everything in the palace. She's the boss, right under the Wizard and eventually Ozma.
Haha yeah I had to make her chubby... I feel like she was like that once she became the head of the maids- most of her work was done for her so she could sit around and read all day while eating chocolates. Except if something came up she would probably rush to the scene immediately and take care of it.

i had 3 laptops in the last 3 years. 3. i dropped my tv on the first one and that is the best illustration of how lucky i am. i still don't know what happened to the second one, but guys from repair said that mmm well repair would cost me almost as the new one. now i have 3 months old mac and it already have a dent. and don't get me started on the weird shit my programs put on from time to time. it's a disaster. but it also slowly teaching me patience. so i'm trying to look at the bright side of the situation.

well, you deserve even more for your determination!)
i think it's great when you love to do something so much that you can do it every day without getting bored. i don't really have hobby like that, so no real progress for me

i have to say that thou i had Volkov's books back at home, i don't remember much of it - i've read all of Baum's when i was 8 and never saw any reasons to go back to the russian substitute

i don't think that the rest of series is similar. i mean the layout is pretty much the same, yeah, but it's the same for like 80% of children's adventure books. i love the second book for it's feminism and revolution motives and for transgender Ozma (no one in the world will convince me otherwise). the third for reunion mostly, and Billina is awesome. i think that latter ones lack some strong moods, as you named it, but i still love them for characters - i'm rereading the road to oz currently and it's quite philosophical actually, with all those Dorothy's confrontations with Button-Bright and Shaggy Man's occasional Words Of Wisdom. And the one about Rinkitink is awesome as well - Bibil is my hero. I probably should stop, now when i think about it, all of them are really cool in some way. Except Dorothy and Wizard in Oz. It's boring.

in my head, oppositely, there is no way she would just sit around. i feel that she would constantly roam the palace, getting little bit grumpy when she is bored and being a little bit of control freak you know, with all that "if you want something done well, do it yourself" attitude. but she has a kind and cheerful soul, so everybody dearly loves her nonetheless.  oh and she is a queen of wit and sass and mastered the art of poker face.

Exactly! She is such a great character, I have no idea why people keep making her all that "girly"
It seems like the fact only that she is the only one with an army in entire kingdom should already make people respect the power and understand her deeper, but they still...such a secret to me

Yes! And the fact that she held out against Wicked Witches on all sides, defeated several on her own and probably has more access to oz knowledge than anyone. Glinda is the real deal.

Haha, yeah. Sometimes you just need to leave art alone for a little bit and come back to it with fresh eyes. Either you'll see what can be fixed immediately, or you'll realize it's really not as bad as you were thinking.
