Hola
Saludos

I would have thought the Turians to be some who preferred overwhelming firepower in force as opposed to maneuver combat, but I dunno.

I'm the one who requested it, so I can say a bit more about what I had in mind.
Basically, my Thanix cannons don't use Bioware's BS explanation for a variety of reasons - molten metal loses its magnetic properties so the normal magnetic acceleration doesn't work, iron vaporizes before tungsten melts, a one second burst (seen frequently from Reaper weapons) from a 1 meter diameter weapon that accelerates the projectile to 3000 km/s has a mass equivalent to a third of an aircraft carrier, etc. It just doesn't hold up under scrutiny.
Instead, my version of the Thanix is an energy weapon using mass effect fields. It's sufficiently vague so as to avoid the sort of errors present above. Thus, firepower doesn't really matter - no ship can avoid damage from a hit with a Thanix cannon. You could use a larger diameter weapon to give a better chance of hitting something vital, and that's what my turians are currently doing... an 8 meter main gun and 20 x 4 meter broadside guns per side on their new battle cruiser, while the volus built (but turian designed) Kwunu has 2 x 20 meter forward canons and 80 x 8 meter cannons per side.
I originally had this idea during planning for an RP and later decided to change things up for my actual stories, but this is the RP version. A design like this would be favored by the salarians now (with cannons about 1 meter in diameter, but about 100 of them). Asari would go for a small vessel basically built around a Thanix cannon (of about 1-1.5 meter diameter).
