Description
Tuamotu sandpiper (Prosobonia parvirostris/cancellata) is a wader endemic to the Tuamotu Islands in French Polynesia. It's unusual by its diet as it feeds on nectar (very unusual for a wader) of Scaevola taccada (in the picture) and the tree Cordia subcordata. Illustration for a Czech Wader study group bulletin Vanellus. This picture was already painted a year ago. I originally wanted it to be bigger with another bird in it, but it doesn't look like I'll ever find time to finish it... If I do, I'll post the other picture later.
