"You're hopeless without me. Seriously. I make everyone more awesome! ....Un...less your horoscope says you're overdue for bad luck."
Active Spells
- Sheltering Pledge ( Supportive ) - Cost: 20% of Lyle's max HP
Lyle pledges that his target will be protected and safe, intertwining their fates and tethering Lyle to his ally. While his pledge is active, he shelters some damage from his ally, and gains additional support. However, breaking the pledge prematurely causes Lyle to be punished for failing to fulfill his oath.
Tether Buffs: [Damage Shelter] Lyle shelters the linked ally from some damage, causing(25/50/75/100)% of damage that was meant for an ally to be dealt to Lyle instead (after damage calculation). [Shared Healing] Healing one ally in the tether, causes the other pledged person to heal 25% of that amount (Ally A recieves 25HP heal when Lyle gets healed for 100HP). [Divinely Marked] Lyle's skill Divine Intervention can trigger off damage given to him via the pledge, so if both Lyle and his target have Divine Intervention cast on them, the chance to trigger the counter occurs twice.
Conditions| Limitations: [Tether Distance] While tethered to an ally, Lyle and his pledged ally must remain within a 5m radius of each other. If either Lyle or his pledged ally go beyond that distance (whether willingly or forced), the Pledge will be broken prematurely. [Penance for Failure] If Lyle's pledged ally breaks the pledge prematurely (either through distance or the ally is knocked out/dies), Lyle will be punished for not fulfilling his oath, and will pay the price of a large amount of health (20% of Lyle's Maximum HP).
-Strengths: Lyle's ability allows him to act as a support to both melee and ranged characters as long as he stays relatively close to them.
-Weaknesses: Lyle suffers a large penalty for failing to protect his ally, leaving him in a vulnerable position. This skill is also of no use when Lyle is alone.
- Faith's Serendipity ( Healing | Offensive ) - Cost: 5% of Lyle's Max HP
Lyle attempts to use his light magic to divine either a Blessing or Penance on his target, which will take place in the near future. Lyle's abilities in telling the future are far from perfect, however, and may sometimes end up divining the wrong future for his target.
Conditions: If Lyle predicts Blessing: 2 turns after casting, he has a (LUK x 10 + 10)% chance to heal an ally for a value equal to 10% of his Max HP, and restore 1% HP each turn for 5 turns thereafter. If Lyle predicts Penance: 2 turns after casting, he has a (LUK x 10 + 20)% chance to inflict divine punishment onto his target, damaging them for a value equal to 15% of his Max HP, and cause 1% HP to corrode each turn for 5 turns thereafter.Limitations: If Lyle's divination is FALSE (he fails his blessing/penance), the opposite effect will occur (ie, Penance if Lyle predicted Blessing). This ability cannot KO a target (bring their health to 0). If Lyle attempts to divine the future multiple times in succession, the rate of success decreases (a value of -10% per successive cast).
-Strengths: Lyle's ability acts as both a damage-dealing spell and a healing spell, so it's flexible depending on what is needed to be used. As the ability is delayed, if Lyle predicts right, he can cast it on a healthy target, anticipating the damage they are about to receive.
-Weaknesses: The chance to not just fail, but aid the enemy as well. In addition, casting it too many times can be increasingly risky. Because the effects are delayed, the enemy still has a few turns to act and react to the possible consequences. The delayed effect also makes it a poor choice of healing for people who need it immediately.
- Divine Intervention ( Defensive | Offensive ) - Cost: 10% of Lyle's Max HP
Lyle calls on divine powers to shelter a target and punish those who try to harm him/her.
Conditions: Blessed ally gains a shield equal to (10/15/20/25)% of Lyle's maximum health. Intervention is active for a duration of 2 minutes, even if the shield wears off. While the Divine Intervention is active, damaging the blessed target has a (Lyle's LUK x 10)% chance of causing a bolt of light to strike the attacker as retribution. Limitations: Lyle can bless at most two people at any given time, although to do so he must cast his blessing twice. Divine Intervention cannot be cast again on the same target until the first one wears off (ie, you can't cast it again to refresh an expired shield) -Strengths: This move allows Lyle to deal damage while still focusing on his defensive playstyle. This type of barrier is also very effective against multi-hit attacks, because of increased trigger rate.
-Weaknesses: Lyle cannot repeatedly cast the ability to gain another shield right away. He has to wait for all effects to disappear first before casting it again on the same target. The ability is also not the best type of barrier against heavy-hitting slow enemies, because it allows less chances to trigger the counterattack.
Passive Magic
Lyle has always been a very intuitive person, and his belief in fate and chance is a strong part of who he is. While his intuition might seem odd, there are an alarming number of times when his predictions or gut feeling are accurate. He's rather good at guessing games and anything involving chance, and when he predicts that a person will have a ___ day, chances are, it's gonna happen.

➥
Generally, Lyle is a very active person who's interests usually involve being outside. He loves playing sports, and is usually brave enough to face a challenge, even though it's something he would most likely lose, or something that's rather dangerous. In a fight, he's can't stand just hanging back, always feeling the need to do something, whether that be aid an ally or hit an enemy. That being said however, he's very friendly and generally is the first to initiate contact with someone. His cheery attitude usually earns him a lot of casual friends, although more than a few people have been bothered by his constant optimism. During battle, he's a very dependable ally, if a little noisy, and will always do his utmost to fulfill his assigned role.
Despite his positive and upbeat attitude, people sometimes feel that he's rather eccentric, always reading about horoscopes, lucky colors, or reminding people to avoid things like black cats or mirrors. He will sometimes even 'accidentally' bump into people to stop them from stepping on cracks, or pull them away from walking under a ladder if he notices the act in time. He's also a bit clumsy and scatterbrained himself, constantly dropping things or misplacing them. He believes that it was fate or luck that brought about his missing items, however, and will usually rely on divine providence or his gut instinct to tell him where to look, if he does at all. Due to his rather intense belief in superstition, he's been known to be irrational at times, choosing odd ways of solving problems just to get around something that he thinks would inflict bad luck on him or others.

"And then, and then! They lived happily ever after!! Right mama? Papa?"
Although his father's family had a history of being wielders of dark magic, Lyle's abilities were derived from his mother's side of the family, a rather wealthy magician family that specialized in light element magic. Although he didn't inherit the dark magic like his twin brother, Lucas, he received a similar birthmark on his left arm, just like his twin. Though the marriage of his father, Rafael, and his mother, Kristine, was frowned upon by his grandparents, Lyle and his brother were able to charm them into agreeing to the marriage, if only for the sake of the grandchildren. After they managed to smooth things out, Lyle's parents got remarried once again, with Lyle and his brother as the ring bearers. At that point in time, Lyle was a bright and happy young child who believed that they were going to have the best, most fun family ever.
"Mama, mama, why is dad always shouting? He scares me... Mama....Mama? Are you okay?"
As the years passed by, however, it became obvious that there were problems happening in the family. Lyle was both surprised and hurt when his father constantly arrived home with nothing but harsh words for his mom, his brother, and Lyle himself. At that moment, Lyle didn't understand that what was upsetting his father so badly was that he couldn't bear any more children with his mother, and that his father feared that he wouldn't be able to provide for the family, so he ended up venting out his frustrations on his wife and kids. Later on, Lyle was horrified to find out that his mother had developed an illness, and angry that she refused to tell his father about it. Being a dutiful son, however, Lyle respected his mothers wishes when she told him and his brother that they weren't to tell Rafael either. During this time, Lyle was still a very happy and playful boy with plenty of playmates in the surrounding villages, but he often felt that no one but Lucas and his mother could understand how difficult it was to be going through what he was going through.
"I HATE HIM MAMA. I HATE HIM, HATE HIM, HATE HIM!!!"
After some time, Lyle's mother threatened to leave the house with him and Lucas if his father didn't treat them better. Upon seeing his father choose work, Lyle flew into a depressed rage. During this time, however, his mother gave him an amulet, and said as long as he kept it close, there would always be something lucky that would happen to him on that day. Lyle was dubious at first, but kept it with hi, even when Rafael showed up and begged the family to come back with him. The days started to get better, with Lyle's father making attempts to join the family more, and he even heard news that his mother was pregnant, so he could look forward to being a big brother for once (Lucas was older by about 2 minutes). Tragedy struck again, however, when his mother - and his would-have-been sibling - died during childbirth. Unable to deal with the agony, Lyle threw his pendant away.
"What if... what if this really was meant to be? It's fate! I KNEW it!!"
Shortly after the death of his mother, Lyle began to search high and low for the trinket, but couldn't find it. Starting to grow desperate, he consulted a book on astrology, and - to his and his brother's wonder, he managed to recover the amulet. Vowing never again to lose it, Lyle began believing more and more in things like superstition, fortunes and divination until he became obsessed - and oddly enough his predictions were more accurate than what made people comfortable, further reinforcing his belief in it. Lyle still kept a smile on his face and regained his friendly demeanor, however around his father, it was obvious he was forcing himself to act nice.
"You...Fine. I'll think about it. But in the meantime... Me and Luke need space."
Since Rafael was determined to earn back his sons forgiveness, Lyle, after much hesitation (and he only agreed because his brother made the decision first), agreed to try to forgive his father under the condition that he and Lucas be allowed to study at St. Reverie, having heard of the school through their acquaintances in their family of mages. Excited at the prospect of meeting new people with his brother, and learning to develop his rather unpredictable magic, he set off for Stoneheaven along with Lucas, ready to explore before finally boarding the train. Lyle hopes that one day, he would be able to accept everything about his father, and forgive him for what he did to him and the rest of the family.

● He owns a golden necklace that he received from his mother. He's very attached to it and considers it his most important good luck charm.
● Has a twin brother named Lucas. Although he finds his brother dull, slightly antisocial, and generally lacking enthusiasm, he still loves him nonetheless
● He has a mark similar to his twin brother, however, since he doesn't possess the Mori family magic, the mark is incomplete and faded. He doesn't hide it, unlike his brother.
● Plays the viola. Not the violin.
