Description I enjoy doodling/drawing theropods a lot. It's fun to imagine what they might have looked like. Here's one take... namely a pair of velociraptors in zebra finch suits. I don't think they actually were coloured like this - but it's a fun exercise to put a modern animal's colours on an extinct one's! I mean, no matter what we come up with, nature always has something even crazier and even more beautiful to counter with.

For those who don't know, I keep about a dozen zebra finches myself. It's fun to study to them and imagine how many of their behaviours might also have been exhibited by their ancestors, the dinosaurs. Furthermore, I'm dreadfully tired of the idea of dinosaurs (theropods, mainly) being depicted as these MONSTERS that are all claws and teeth and bad tempers. Seriously, they were animals. They hunted and killed and so on, but they weren't crazed movie monsters, any more than lions or crocodiles or eagles are, you know? So... I give you: Zebra raptors in love!

Funnily enough, the primitive bird Confuciusornis had a colouration very similar to the Zebra finch, nice job!

Very interesting - I didn't know that! I own a small charm of zebra finches and they are a large inspiration for my dino artwork
