Description Their ship was sinking... but so was everyone else's.

I already had this picture in mind when the Stella Polaris sunk while being towed from Japan to Sweden -- so I decided to include it. It was a lovely looking ship.

It takes a special artist to make a shipwreck look artsy. Seems you are one. As usual I'm really impressed by your art and slightly jealous. The shades of grey are very soft and surprisingly not feeling a cold as one might expect.

Ahhh, decadence!
People are holding a glass of champagne while their ship is going down. How human.
Our ability to deny can be a beautiful way to cope and at the same time very disgusting..
Again that depends on the point of view.

Beautiful picture. As always i'm fascinated by your use of colors.

This picture inspired me to write a story.

The whole look of it, it's like I can tell how it feels to be there.

It looks cold, and very surreal.

Those last moments that the couple is with each other, it's sad, but so meaningful in it's own strange way.

What a shame...I didn't even know it had sunk. Nothing about that on the news, of course .

Half the nation could sink into the ocean and we wouldn't hear about it for two weeks due to Tom and Kate's baby .

nyctopterus In reply to hughie522 [2006-09-06 12:08:01 +0000 UTC]

It was on a couple of news sites -- but then it was a minor (if beautiful) ship, and people don't seem to give a damn about ships. I mean, the greatest ocean liner America ever built is sitting rusting away in Philadelphia.

You can't help but feel that the 'United States' will probably end up like Stella (gee, that's a flattering name for the ol' girl makes her sound like a 50-year-old hooker) or the Queen Lizzie...

Sunk .

Mostly Illustrator, actually, the texture patterns are a repeated photoshop file.

You got that right -- it was a nightmare of enormous photoshop files imported into Illustrator for the textures, and about a million semitransparent layers for colour correction and gradients. I've got to get a faster computer for this crap, it's driving me nuts.
