Description Pencil drawing.

I don't know who's dead, supply your own corpse. Maybe it's a child they adopted, ...maybe it's Hunith, ...or Uther...

*Waggles finger at hunky blonde* Shame on you Arthur. It is impolite to look bored at someone's funeral. Lovely picture.

Well...I had THOUGHT is was the funeral of someone close to them, but maybe it's actually the funeral of Merlin's hamster... Β

Merlin's Camelot memories of Freya and Arthur's funeral etc have come back to him and reincarnated Merlin couldn't help himself. Β He's popped the dead hamster into a small model boat and has set it on fire and pushed it out on the local pond.

Arthur has just spotted the irate park keeper running towards them...

"supply your own corpse"

I really love how simple this is, yet there's so much detail that isn't necessarily part of the drawing. Their emotions leap right off the page. I like the placement of the leaves and the grave - it add something. I'm not sure I can put it into words.

Thank you very much.

I'm really glad you thought the compostion worked okay. I'm so glad you thought the emotions came across too. Thank you very much.

Such a sad picture, but so well done. I love how much detail there is, without it being overwhelming.

ObsidianSerpent In reply to TinBramble [2012-09-01 07:57:45 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much.

It needed some details just to imply what was going on. But I was worried that if I filled in the whole background then it would detract from the importance of the figures.

(Plus, to be honest, I wasn't sure that I wouldn't mess up trying to put a whole background and end up with a bit of a muddle.)

You're very welcome.

I think that the details you added told a simple story, and we as viewers could fill in the details. I like how you've made those figures the centre of attention.

Keep up the great work!

so sad( and telling from their expressions I'd say it was someone closer to merlin than to arthur...)

and yet so funny LOL
why did you do this? HAHA

bluebelle-88 [2012-08-24 08:34:29 +0000 UTC]

Nice way to phrase it "supply your own corpse". The look on Arthurs face makes me think it's not someone he respected. But it was clearly someone close to Merlin. Great work on his expression

ObsidianSerpent In reply to bluebelle-88 [2012-08-24 17:06:30 +0000 UTC]

I am nothing if not subtle and tasteful.

I was aiming for Merlin devastated, and holding it all inside. And Arthur more: "I really can't deal with this because I don't know how to. And I want to run away from it all, even if I am a bit of a bastard for running out on you."

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

bluebelle-88 In reply to ObsidianSerpent [2012-08-24 22:32:38 +0000 UTC]

I makes more sense then what I thought. Merlins devastation was obvious

Yeah, Arthur's expression didn't come across in the way I intended. I've had that feedback from a few people.

I would say Hunith Because Merlin looks so heartbroken and Arthur so sad but not in the way Merlin is.

I was going for Merlin either sad or guilty, (or possibly both). And Arthur kinda "WTF This is truly rotten, but I can't deal with all this emotion sloshing about and I want to run away". :g:

Yeah, he's SUCH a pretty man. Even when he's crying and his nose goes all red he looks absolutely stunning.

I'm glad I'm not married to him, I'd never get anything done, I'd just sit looking at him 24/7. (And that last comment is a total lie, I'm NOT at all glad that I'm not married to him. )

I'm sure you're beautiful!!! you know, even if people have more perfect skin, perfect hair and all, if they are the one chosen for the magazines, they might not automatically be beautiful to me. When I like or love a person, she/he might not be the model, but I can't see the person how a stranger can see him/her, she/he is beautiful in my eyes. As well as a stupid insensitive evil person who could be a model is ugly for me.

Yes, I do agree inner beauty is the main thing. (But it would still be jolly nice to have a tiny bit of the outer stuff too. )

ObsidianSerpent In reply to flomacaroon [2012-08-25 08:34:10 +0000 UTC]

To a certain extent. Although if you look at pretty people they tend to marry other pretty people. I can't think of...any...nice looking male actors whose partner isn't very nice looking too.

I think it's slightly different between men and women too. ...as with a very successful man it seems to compensate for his lack of looks. So you can get a quite ugly but very succesful man, (like Gerard Depardieu), going out with very pretty women. But if Depardieu was only a plumber, I don't think those women would be going out with him.

But men don't seem to do that the other way around. An ugly but important woman doesn't seem to pull lots of young handsome men.

I'm not saying this is RIGHT, I'm just saying it seems to be the way the world works.

hmmm.. well, not automatically I think, obviously you've got this pattern too many times, but I know an awesome person of 54 who get divorced and then found love, and is married to a rich man, and she's not pretty compared to him, she's not rich because she lost everything she had in the US during the crisis, she's overweight, and yet she found this very nice guy in Ireland, her previous husband was treating her badly, they had the same salary, they were both rich before, he was drinking and all. An now at 54, not pretty...she found her soulmate, so obviously the usual patter still prevail, but..you never know what will happen in life : )

Do you really want them being that upset by Gwen dying...? (Surely there should be a party? )

Hush my mouth! I actually do like Gwen, I loved first-season-Gwen and Lamia-episode-Gwen when she was Merlin's bff, and all awkward and had a bit of personality.

She stands in the way of my OTP which is a bit of a problem. But I'd be quite happy to see her off in the sidelines married to Lancelot and best friends with M/A.
