Description New ArrivalsA few weeks ago in my Journal "Cat Mews" Cat Mews I mentioned that we had acquired two Maine Coon kittens, Sam and Tabitha, to share our home at Elderslie. They were too young at the time to leave their breeder's house, but some 10 days ago we brought them home with us and I thought you might like to see them. Remember that these kittens are only some 14 weeks old, but they are not far off the size of a small fully grown cat already. They weigh about 2.5 kilos and are over 24 inches long nose to tail tip. They are expected to grow to between 8 and 9 kilos and will be 3 foot plus in length.
Here they are looking prim and proper as if butter would not melt in their mouths. They enjoy play fighting a great deal, but remain very bonded to one another usually sleeping curled up together.

My girls were stinkers, they loved trying to get outside, but I have a garden of all sorts of
critters and it was just safer to keep them indoors but they laid in front of all the windows
day in and day out...

I really enjoyed this set of photos David, cannot wait to see more

Thank you very much, M. Everyday brings surprises, they grow so fast and learn something everyday.

Cheers

I have always adopted Rescue Cats and Dogs, and even at older ages
of 5 they learn very very quickly...

You are very very welcome David

Probably a critical survival feature in cats, one that makes them such a successful species - the ability to keep learning.

Many Thanks, M.

High degree of concentration, Linda. I think that she will be, if allowed, the hunter-killer of the pair. We will have to manage letting them out very carefully. At the moment we're thinking of having a harness and lead and taking them for walks around the garden to ee what happens. Maine Coons are amenable to wlaks like this.

Many Thanks

David

Yes, that's the Only way I'd let them out, David. I'd be so fearful to allow them out on their own... so much can happen to them.  (of course, I'm thinking from the perspective of one who lives in the City.. you have lots of nature surrounding you, from what I can see..   Get them used to a lead early on,...  they won't know then that not all cats do it. !!!

There at least 3 cats that have our garden as part of their territory. So, their pussy noses are going to be knocked out of joint by the arrival of two who live here!

Many Thanks, Linda.
