Description Nine photographs of the same opal in the same lighting from different angles. The opal is a reasonably cheap (though good quality) triplet that I bought at Vic Market in Melbourne, it is about 7mm long. A triplet opal is a thin slice of opal between a black backing and a clear cover (as opposed to doublets and solid opals). Opals are hard to photograph and it looks quite different (though still amazing) in different lighting (these photos were taken in full sunlight).

The colours/contrast/brightness etc were not adjusted in any way, I just took the photos and stuck them together in photoshop (also some were flipped so that the shadows were all on the same side).

Great photomanip, is that guy from Tamora Pierce's books? I used to read them all the time.

This photo isn't actually stock, I'm ok with you using it but for next time you should ask before using anything not labelled as stock.

Thank you, yes it is, from the Immortals series.

I'm sorry, I didn't think. Thank you for being so kind and letting me know.

Beautiful! Opal (although not my birthstone) is my favorite gem, you really captured it's beauty!

They are my favourite too, though I like anything shiny and colourful.

This is fire opal right?

I'm not really sure what you mean by fire opal. The man who sold it said that it's an A grade Australian opal if that is any help, I thought most fire opals came from Mexico (but I'm no expert). Whatever it is, it is nice and shiny.
