Awww, I think this looks great! Arin's expression here is really adorable.
Your digital coloring is coming along great, honestly. I love the rich colors and you already seem to be doing fine with the airbrushing. I think you may wanna try some different techniques on the hair highlights, but what you've done works and is pretty. The gradiant wings look good though I'll admit I try to use gradiants sparingly (except in cases where I'm moving selections around... but that's more a matter of style I think. I guess I just worry about making things look too digital except when I'm going for a 'digital look'. Not sure what your goals are. So far I feel like you're putting your traditional marker/painting skills to use using digital media and I think that's an excellent way to go). I really like the skin tone shading and the metal tones--great job on this~!

Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate your thoughts! ^_^ I've already gotten better, I think...
Heh, as for using my traditional know-how, it's kind of necessity, because I otherwise don't know what I'm doing. D: I'm -happy- you said so, though, because I like to think I'm applying already-learned skills to this.

Very interesting characters, and the artwork is excellent. I don't think there's anything wrong with using old linework to make new digital works.

I think it's best to practice and learn colouring on old pictures. That way, you can concentrate on improving it (if necessary) via new techniques. And it's pretty nostalgic. Or perhaps that's just me... o.o
ANYHOW, this is definitely an improvement! Arin's cup, in particular, looks very good. As does the shading and highlights on Xin Ta's hair bunch bits (please excuse the lack of hair terminology there).
Nice to see some gradients, too. If you want to add a bit more gradient goodness, you can incorporate a subtle gradient into the base colours. It shouldn't change the image too much, but can give a tad more depth to the colours.
Oh, and I rather like Arin's ear fluff. c:

Cute drawing! The characters are nicely drawn and I like their designs. In the future you should probably try to create a greater contrast between the base color and the shadows. You should also try adding highlights in future drawings. Tip: Don't use white as a highlight because it'll make your surfaces look plasticy. Go for a softer, warmer shade of the base color and use a soft brush.

Look at those teacups! And the shine on those metal bits! Fantastic!
Re-coloring old drawings makes complete sense. If I ever get a tablet, that is one of the first things I'll do.

O_O
Alright, uh, well I don't know what it looks like in GIMP, but on Photoshop it looks like a wooden clothes hanger (weird, right?) and you drag it along the lines that you want to color over, and it prevents you from drawing over the other lines. For example, when I colored Bunnie's hair, I drew the linear dodge around her hair only and then colored. VIOLA! XD It looks cruddy, though, because I drew off of the line. :3

Aww, this is a very sweet picture and I like the characters design.
You discovered the Gradient tool, I don't use it as often as I use to, Now I just chose a really large brush size to get the effect. The line art came out very nice in this as well, and the coloring has improved from your last post. ^^

Yeah, Nikki was nonplussed by the gradient tool, I dunno if I'll use it again.

^.^ Aww, I even got a fav! Thanks!
Heh, well, I guess it's just a matter of applying what I already know. It's just...since I don't know what I'm doing as far as tools and processes, it feels as though I'm half blind and wearing mittens as I try to color. Very awkward. ._. But...I think I'm getting the hang of it.

A passion for making and blending tea... strange passion.
My passions are somewhat different (I very much enjoy modelling and painting, particularly warhammer models, which I can now collect again, since I'm getting some money in)
Actually I like your approach. Use the things you draw by hand, then digitally colour and ink them. efficient.
