Description Three new pairs of bracers I made for the guys in my D&D group (I painted the bracers to match their dice XD). Fleur-de-lis design is from a Dover book that I slightly modified. I am mostly proud of the last pair since my painting/tooling consistency is improving. I need a strap cutter though..my straps aren't uniform.

The last pair was actually a happy mistake. I wanted a red background and a black design, but the red turned out orange! It looked like Halloween. But I managed to save it by using both diluted black paint and dark brown antiquing gel! I just smeared it around with some wool. I love the result.

8oz cow hide, acrylic paint, antiquing gel, and Super Shene.

pretty cool. Btw how much or how many layers of super-sheen did you apply? because they are very shiny!

Three, which as I found out was too many. One layer does just fine. ^.^; After 2 layers the sheen layer starts to separate make a crackled look, which could be cool in some cases.

interesting to know. I usually just apply 1 coat, but if im looking for my crafts to be real shiny I'll polish them with a neutral shoe polish

would you be able to make a tutorial on these too?

Make a pattern out of paper to make sure it fits your arms. Cut out the leather. Pick a design you like, print it out, and trace it onto the leather with a stylus. Use a swivel knife to cut into the design. Use various beveling stamps to stamp your design and give a more dimensional look. Paint with acrylics, rivet on some straps, and tahdah! There are some good video tutorials on Tandy's website. [link]

I am working on some bracers right now that involve hand-stitching. When I am done with those and I start my next pair I'll take pics as a go along and write something up. Probably won't be for a few months though. If you have any specific questions about a certain process just shoot me a note and I'll help you out.
