Description In my new Dark Heresy campaign, the players are acolytes to the mysterious Voivode-Inquisitor Hanz Schneidder, working in secretive missions around the galaxy. The Inquisitor is a mystery even for his most close acolytes, to start with the fact that nobody knows his face, he only presides over his court of cohorts and acolytes in strange gatherings were everyone wears blank and featureless masks and robes, some white and some black, the one to sit in the Inquisitorial throne had change height, build and skin color in each such gatherings, making it obvious the Inquisitor uses proxies to deal with his minions.

Also no good results comes from any archive investigation. There are hundreds of Inquisitors named "Hanz Schneidders" around the galaxy, and none seems to bear any relation to this one in particular. Also nobody know in what Ordos does he operates, and despite his actions usually seem to suggest the Ordo Hereticus, there is no way to know for sure.

Also his rank of "Voivode" is mysterious, as it suggests he came from some noble class in a vague slav/germanic/romanian cultured planet, like Vostroya or Krieg, but no "Hanz Schneidder" is known to exist bearing this title in any of the most well known planets of the Imperium.

His minions can tell that the Inquisitor have a strange taste for ritual, submitting his acolytes to strange and seemly random initiation rituals that can come from a simple shake of hands and lectures to bloody mutilations and psychologic torture.

Usually his acolytes work in small cells, directed by the older and wiser members of the Inquisitor's cadre, being summoned to some starship from time to time to report their progress and attend to the initiation of new agents. There seem to be several ranks of operatives among the cadre, probably accessed by merit or seniority, but no one can tell how many of this ranks exist or even how the chain of command operate. The highest rank seem to be the "Fünf Finger", a team of five (seemly senior) operatives that coordinate the other cells and ranks, often relaying orders from the Inquisitor to lesser operatives.

Pretty spooky. I have a tendency to write Inquisitors who either lead from the front in battle or are huge political figures.

Ex: in the current campaign I'm in, the party is working for a high-ranking Inquisitor Lord who coordinates with every Inquisitor in the subsector. The Party itself is on a joint operation for a relatively new Inquisitor who doesn't command them persay, but runs with them.

Last campaign I played I made a more accessible Inquisitor, but the characters became quite unruly and putting her authority in question... I learnt a more elusive figure is much more frightening, they never know who they are really working for, were to find him/her and what capabilities he/she have...

Anyone, from the ship's cleaning maid servitor to the lowest techpriest in the engine room can be a spy... or worse, the Inquisitor him/herself XD

That's a pretty good setup. I just put my two campaigns on hiatus... I really just want to play in a campaign for a change, heh.

Wonderful smoke and mirrors stile for your campaign(weary fitting if I may say).

Thanks

Yap, I even created some random tables... Not even the GM knows what the Inquisitor wants, who he/she is or what's his/her next step will be XD
