Description I'm playing Dark Heresy as DM, and just decided to start the adventure in the end of the rulebook, Illumination. So the rich description of the Iocanthus city of Port Suffering got me wondering... and I decided to sketch how it would be a "normal" house around there.

The idea is that the housing started pretty much with the Imperial Guard engineering style, cubic bunkers made of concrete, with vaguely gothic windows and plenty of pipes and wires going in and out of each "dwelling". As times went by and the civilians started to "personalize" their homes, new floors and rooms started being built over and around the bunkers, mostly with spare parts of spaceships and vehicles (Port Suffering is a port, after all...).Ā

Despite the "Grim Dark Future", common folk are still common folk, dirty clothes needs washing, gossip needs spreading, angst teenagers need walls for graffiti and small children runs around screaming "FOR DA EMPEROR!" and waving homemade toy swords and bolters. Also added some baby dustdogs, the dinossaur-like animal that serves as mount in Iocanthus, as companions for children.

For the unaware, Dark Heresy is the Warhammer 40.000 pen and paper RPG.

wow, really good grim dark!)Ā
but it's not just DH, but a lot of post-apocalypse (as Mad Max, fallout and other).
I like this so much!

Thanks

Yap, Iocanthus is a desertic planet with no liquid water on it, has very little Imperial presence and the place exports only one commodity, so I imagine the place to be quite "Mad Max"-ist, with lots of nomad gangs and desert stalkers trying to survive in the wilderness

I have not played in DH for two years or more Ā
And can not remember exactly some of the description of the rulebooks worlds.

I like it. I am sure such depictions will make the game richer for your players, too.
