Personality: Raised by a performing doe, Chryses has a certain amount of flamboyance and drama to his every move and interaction. He is flirty and charming and doesn't shy away from brushing coquettishly up against the soldier stags and fandoes alike... however it's all just for show, as below it all Chryses really is just a performer with a role to play.

In his personal life, Chryses is far more quiet than his stage presence might suggest, though he retains his easy smile and good-humour. He loves hearing new stories and getting new ideas for his performances and will often roam far and wide to perform for others and to hear their life stories. He is very loyal and is protective of those who he considers his family. He doesn't care so much for what others say about him, but if anybody speaks ill of his crew, they'll get an earful (and probably a hoof-full) from him.

He is often derided and made fun of for his profession, as it's one usually only taken up by does. Nonetheless, Chryses is proud of what he does and his warmth and friendliness often charm those who see his performances in person.

Appearance: Chryses is undeniably handsome. With a smooth golden coat, warm eyes and a warmer smile, it's very easy to imagine him as the hero of a story. Unfortunately, he never was the hero-soldier type. His body is strong and lithe, with whipcord muscles honed by years of dancing and performing. His mane and tail are long and bound into thick cords, tied by thin cords made of leather strips and dried grass.
When performing, he will dress himself up to match the character. Using feathers, wolf pelts and dark soot pastes, he can transform himself into any character as he sees fit, and he is able to use his entire body as a prop to tell any story he wishes to.

History: Chryses doesn't remember his father -- the stag died when he was still very young, barely able to speak. As a result, he was raised single-hoofedly by his mother, and she did her best to do right by him despite his missing parent. A famous Firedancer herself, she was magically strong and made it her personal mission to ensure her son be just as adept in magic as she was. After all, her mate had fallen to a Blackwood raider due to his lack of magic forcing him to get up close and personal in fights. If her son had magic... well, that would be one less thing for her to worry about.

So she brought him with her to her performances and bid him sit quietly while she danced to the heavy beat of hooves. And when she wasn't working, she took every opportunity she could to teach her son the ways of magic, showing him how to curl the flames to his whims and make them dance.

Unfortunately, her son was more influenced by her than she had thought. Though she had hoped he would take his knowledge and go on to become a Firebringer, as she had never been able to, he was far more interested in Firedancing. He loved the performing arts and had perfected the art of dancing, a byproduct of years of watching his mother's work.

He now performs for a mixed bag of clients, though he always prefers to dance for weary soldiers and elders, as he feels it is they that need the magic of a good story and performance the most. He considers what he does a service of its own -- after all, there are many soldiers going out to serve and save the country, but who is there to save the soldiers after they come back broken and tired?

Dance/Magic Instruction: Chrys is always happy to teach others what he knows!

Fawn Parties: Chrys enjoys playing with fawns and he can adapt his dances and stories to cater to a younger audience. At the parties, he is more than happy to be left in charge of the fawns, but it's suggested that atleast one other guardian be left with the fawns too.

Vale Parties: Chrys often turns up to dance and tell stories at the more adult night-time parties in the Vale. As these parties are generally looser and more hedonistic, you can expect him to dance freely and come armed with all the funny stories he's heard over the years.

Bonding Ceremonies: Chrys can perform at bonding ceremonies or mating parties as pre-event entertainment. In these occasions he can either dance alone or with his partner, and the dances will always be slow and sensual or fiery and heated, as suits the preferences of the couples in question.

Soldier/Elder Vigils: Chrys makes it a point to visit with tired soldiers and elders in need of cheer and company, and for them he will usually forego the dancing in favour of his storytelling. He will share all sorts of stories about old fairytales and war stories, using both himself and his flames to draw everybody into his tales.

Funeral Rites: On the sad occasion of a death, Chrys can be asked to do a dance to honour the fallen dead around the funeral pyre. Such a dance is considered a last honour for the dead fawnling.
