Description Another incidental product resulting from sleep-deprivation. This piece was completed on 19/06/06, -some-time after 6 am, I've forgotten when. For some reason at 4 I shifted through my drawers of notes and papers looking for useless tasks to do to help make me be able to sleep; and I stumbled upon a couple of printouts from photos I had taken. One was of my hand in a horned-devil shape; one was of my eye, and one was of the lungs I worked with earlier this year. My mind grew steadily more spontaneous and random as time went on; thus this freaky shiz came into existence. XD

Mediums used include tea, poster paint, water colour, cut-out photos, gel-pen and dead flies.

That's great man. For some reason I didn't see this one yet.
I love the bloody lung on the hook, and the fly that get caught by the machine-arm.
Also it's great that you used pictures in your piece.
Did you base the painting on the pictures, or did the pictures just fit in perfectly?

I'm really glad that you like those features, it makes me happy when people appreciate the little detail thingies

I looked at all of the photos first, and my mind made up a picture of how they could all fit. A lot of stuff I had to leave out as I was completely tired, and so much stuff crowded and swamped my head at once hehe! x_x

It's great to know that there are others similar! Sleeping problems can make you feel pretty alone. And exactly hehe; a lot of things bombarding your mind at once when you're tired doesn't usually work, lol!

Welcome. Seriously, some of the best pictures come from during moments of insomnia. Many pictures drawn under strange curcumstances (at 4 a.m., on binder paper, with shoddy materials, etc.) get some of the best results... but then when you try to recreate it, it looks like crap. T_T

Hm, You should use sandpaper instead of scattering paint by using a straw.
It may give a nicer effect. especially a rough paper feel with those dead flies.

I think that painting on sandpaper would be a great idea! The texture would really suit a lot of moods that I try to capture, thanks ^_^b

hehe this is full metal madness! Great piece, and when i checked the zoomed one i saw that you have used great delicasy whilst working with this piece, the way the robot arm caress the flies wing is a great scene of detail, and you have managed to crop the photos with great precision!
This piece is great and crazy at the same time! Great job!

hehe, it's a cool image so it deserves some nice comments, and im all about checking out the details, really tells alot about the artist and his intention thwards art...
Sleeping problems are fucked up, sometimes i get them, but they work both ways, sometimes i sleep for 24h at a time, and sometimes im awake for the same amount of time, takes alot from both mind and body, but sometimes it can work out as a great inspiration source...

This is really well done, Rachie! I LOVE the way you've done that hand... O_O It's so fitting, and..perfect... The eye rocks too, I love eyes.

Wonderfully, if not randomly thought out piece Rachie!
I think the best parts are the lung on a hook and the hand grabby flies!
And the Morty-signature-run-watercolour-black-blob-thingys make it morbidly beautiful!

Like the chaos of it all...love using watercolour on the edge of the page like that, if you don't use a straw to blow the paint around you get really light headed

This one is TOTALLY FREEKING AWESOME! And I'm not just lying like i normally do so that you won't rip my guts out for use in your next deviation.

Its cool how you have integrated(?) the photos into your painting. Also the little pod-submarine thing with your hand pointing out is soo cool! I just noticed the flys have grabber-hands... The only bad thing is that the Eye photo is a little out of focus, but that is just my "evil-photographers-eye-of-doom-and-i-love-focus" coming out to put a downer on you.


Why do i always write best when i am tired.........? And from now on i will stop having a go at you for not sleeping. SUPER TRIPPY!
