Description Submission for AnimeSuki.com's mascot competition. ^^

Now to introduce you to these guys!
Daruma are figures you can find in Japan which symbolise a monk who meditated for so long that his arms and legs fell off. Now think very carefully... What do these remind you of..? Yes! That is correct- Anime chair potatoes. Well done! Otaku who admirably sit in front of their PCs watching endless downloads. That's how these particular Daruma came to be.

In the picture above- they are crying 'Oh no! Our anime has been licensed!' This is meant for the sections about licensed anime found within the site. ^^ And er.. nearly forgot to mention.. Their names are (from largest to smallest) Cosine, Sine, and Ne (cuz I couldn't think of anything else to do with Pythagoras).

One name popped up in my mind - Masamune Shirow. Must've been because of those faces.

FINALLY! So a while back I had made mention of your daruma dolls in my Japanese class, but lo, I forgot your name and couldn't find your front page link anywhere. BUT! Thanks to random searching of people's favorites I found you!

Given this is probably a very creepy comment, and I really don't mean it to be, but you see, I'm very, very tired at the moment after washing dishes for four hours and then watching one really messed up episode of CSI: Las Vegas where dead bodies start talking to one another in the morgue.

Anywho, your daruma drawings made me smile. It was also very distracting in my Japanese Art History class since I couldn't stop reverting back to this. Their faces are so adorable, it's wonderful. I love this to pieces.

Sorry for the weird comment, too

Haha~ Yes, go put your feet up, hun. For whatever you did to end up washing up dishes for hours on end, and then carry on with your good rest in front of more CSI! I had no idea corpses talked to one and other in that show. Never seen it befor tbh. Does it happen all the time?? *hopeful*

So the Daruma's were a distraction? XD *score!* <-- too much internet = development of American slang. I'm happy you liked them. W00t! I got mention in a Japanese class... thanks for sharing this with me!

The talking corpses are new, I guess. I never really watched CSI until now. Now it's becoming a social gathering with my friends and me. I don't think it happens a lot. Just a one time deal.

Now I just have to link you to my friend in question about this. She really liked the "w" mouths I was drawing on a daruma sketch, but I couldn't take credit

American slang? Ah, you're from Europe, I see. Groovy! I'm moreso happy you didn't find me weird for the strange comment. Thanks!

lol yeah I see what kits getting at the middle one smells just like Rock Lee. Though I think the one on the far right is a fav of the 3 he just looks more... cool, in a odd kind of way. Not to say that the other 2 are bad by comparison just I like the one on the right the most.

lol- when I drew him he reminded me of that 'cheerful' samurai outta Seven Samurai.. Same kinda face.. @.@

Rock Lee again, huh? Even so, I ain't gonna change it, been told not to. :3

Heehee. These make me giggle. The last one should be named Tangent, since those are the three basic trigonometric functions. Just a suggestion.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

paladinknight In reply to arcuate [2005-12-12 01:53:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Its been such a long time since I've done any trig that I can't remember exactly what they are anymore! Had been considering 'Soh, Cah, and Toa' cuz I thought 'Tangent' sounded a bit too rough of a name.. But now you mention it, it'd probably suit the rough lil' fella and it does sound a lot better than 'Ne!' (being Sine minus two letters)

Soo~~ 'Soh, Cah, Toa' or 'Cosine, Sine, and Tangent'? I'll leave the naming up to you.

arcuate In reply to paladinknight [2005-12-12 22:17:51 +0000 UTC]

Heh, I really like the "Soh, Cah, Toa" idea. I remember reciting that in algebra class. They sound a bit more whimsical than the full names.
