Sounds similar to the issue of people turning against religion because of the negative impact of religious institutions. I guess that could also go for a lot of other groups or occupations/activities.

that's not art, its abstract, and abstract art is more like an anti-artΒ Β

How to be an 'artist' just splatter paint all over the canvas and send it to some fancy art museum and you'll be a millionare, like seriously, why do people like splatters? A little kid could do better than that.

Reading this makes me sad, because I share the argument.
I enjoy art a lot, but I will never ever work as an artist for a living. IΒ΄m getting regular butthurts from most other artists mentality.

I hate it when everyone thinks that they're Leonardo da Vinci or some shit. You didn't draw the Mona Lisa, and your art will never improve or sell for billions if you keep drawing Naruto fan-art or feet.
Believe me, this Russian painting sold for more than $60 million. [link]

What?! How can you say that is not art!!! Do you have any idea how much design went into that urinal??? Just because it's made in a factory doesn't mean it was never designed to look exactly how it does!
...So if you were to take it and put in on a canvas, that'd be plagiarism.

I hate my art teacher. I hate real artists, it's all like mindfuck and bullshit designed just to make me fail. I'd much rather hang out with the 'tards on this site than the better-than-thous of the IRL art community.

Its all about the story that expresses the artists emotions and experience as to why they selected that certain object to portray what they are getting at, or some sort of bullshit they enjoy crapping out onto us people who actually bother with anatomy.

What I LOVE is when you see the "artist's" who's pages get TONS of views, because they can draw a scribbled cat with bangs, make it rainbow, no shading, no backround, no EFFORT and they post it up.
Or the "photographers" who are EVER SO TALENTED, making SURE that their tits are always in the picture.
Yes, I understand all art is different, but really?
And the artist's galleries which are CHOCK-FULL of linearts.
OR the "1s hoo draw as g00d as thy spell."

That was the intent of the "artist"- He deliberately put a toilet up in display as a way to mock the art world. Ironically, this stamp does the EXACT same thing... 0_o

That is one of Duchamp's best known readymades, "Fountain". It's a urinal he turned upside down and wrote on in order to make a statement that literally anything can be art so long as the artist says it's art. He made other readymades by buying things from stores, sticking it on a wall, and then proclaiming it to be art.

True, true. Have you ever seen what the community does to underage deviants? They swear at them and degrade them until the day they get banned. I've seen it happen a few times, it's sad because it looks like it happens so soon. But I know they are underage, but if they are, why swear at them?
Also, dA is filled with haters, tracers, and stealers.

In high school art classes, the teacher that always seemed to pick me as her student (or however the whole gig is sorted concerning placement of classes) liked to pick a random "modern artist" to show a video to the class about once a week. One artist that still stands out in my mind is a woman who likes to use her body in her works (anywhere from gluing raw cow hide to her body while she's sucking on her own tits to using her hair to paint the floor [and giving me the impression she's having an orgasm while doing so]). I think there was someone else who liked to use car exoskeletons and searing them to giant wire frames, but I could also be thinking of a bad photo I saw here on DA.

You know what sucks? I went to see a Death Note movie in a big theater two years back and guess what? They were all fucking weeaboos who probably were Tartlets in my area and they disrupted the enjoyment of the movie. I hated to say this, but I told my friend quietly that I felt we were on DA in real life.
Horrible.

Agreed.
You might like a section in my gallery called "Conceptual Scribbles", where I mock the pretentiousness of artists who seem to think that it's only really art if it makes you question the sanity of the person who made it. Throughout the whole thing, I'm outright saying: "This is satire. If you think this actually means anything, you're the exact type of person I'm making fun of." Yet idiots still line up to suck my cock over it.
Meanwhile I'm spinning epic yarns and working on thought-provoking comic strips that nobody gives a fuck about because they really don't care about actually "reading between the lines", all they care about is just looking like they do.

I-Rant-Quite-Often [2011-01-24 20:21:45 +0000 UTC]
It's so painfully true, though. I've suffered from more art/writing block in the past three months since joining DA than anytime I can remember before that. It gives me that constant feeling of someone always looking over my shoulder, and, "Is this worth putting on DA?" "Naw, I shouldn't have bothered writing it." And then it gets to the point where I can't write at all for days on end.
