As a very young child I thought of rhinos as "dinosaur cows" and never imagined they were hunted for their horns. Human greed is insane and unforgivable. This is a stunning work with fitting pathos. I love it.

And now you remind me of philosophy and that quote is applicable to so many things... in art too.
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.~ Aristotle

Beautiful work. The rhino does look sad. Every time I read about animal extinction it reminds me of an old science fiction story by John W. Campbell called twilight. It's about a scientist who accidentally transports himself 7 million years into earths future and discovers that as mankind advanced they had began to wipe out any species that was a threat. Eventually they sterilize the earth of even bacteria. The irony of the story is that mankind begins to die out from loneliness.

It seems that due to the enormous exposure the Rhino's plight has received they are making a bit of a comeback - the same can't be said for many, many other animals - it does seem that we have a destructive nature, to both animals and ourselves, I wouldn't bet against John W. Campbell's predictions being accurate!!
