Description Here's some more original work. This is Fallout, a character for a comic project I've been working on a VERY long time (which with any luck will be getting off the ground this Summer). This is a "stripped down" version without the lead-lined cape he usually wears.

This design combines a wonderful intricacy with a clunky low-tech-ness (something I like from my Cybermen actually). It's very evocative of the height of pre-transistor Cold War technology - I can almost smell the zinc chromate primer. I particularly like the cheeky Cerenkov glow from the nuclear pile in the abdomen, that's a nice touch.

Question - is Fallout a robot or a cyborg? Or is that something integral to the story that will be revealed in due course?

I guess I succeeded in the design then, b/c you're drawing all the right conclusions from it! Yeah, Fallout's supposed to look like something designed in the late 40s, built in the early 50s, and "refitted" with some mods by S.A.C. in the early 60s. I was definitely aiming for a greasy low tech kinda vibe- some of his mechanical articulation is actually based off of Willis O'Brien's original KING KONG armature! And I agree with ya on the Cybermen. The Troughton era "Telos" versions have always been my faves (followed by the Hartnell versions), and the hydraulic tubes in Fallout's arms are somewhat inspired by them. And yeah, his "core" is based on a lot of visual research of nuclear reactors (makes for good dramatic lighting too).

As for what he is exactly- that is indeed something integral to the story that will be revealed in due course.
