Beautiful Shot! I'm a teacher and I have integrated this image into a power point lecture along with a URL to this page. Please let me know if you'd like me to remove it. The photo will not be used for any commercial product. Thank you.

sepia tone works really well, love the way its brought out the texture of the trees and bushes. Lighting and shadows cast alond the top of the wall also look class. There is something that doesnt quite click about the photo though, not sure what it is tho, maybe the composition isnt too striking ?

I've viewed my share of Great Wall pictures but this one, I enjoy. The tones make the picture; give it a feel that I think is adept in conveying a sense of the subject. Good work and I too am green with envy over your China adventures. Did you only visit northern China? I would love to explore it all but I definitely think I would start with the south-eastern coast or the Sichuan province. Anyway hope you had a great time and I hope to see more shots soon.

Thanks

I also visited Xi'an in the Shaanxi province (northwest) for a couple of days, mainly to visit the Terracotta Warriors, but it was a really nice place with Buddist temples and stuff - and it had just snowed when i got there

Was very cool - cost me about UK£220 for return flights from Beijing, a night in a 4 star hotel, my own chauffeur and my own personal tour guide. And most of that was the cost of the flight...

I only took my little 2 megapixl cam with me though unfortunately
(Stupid!)

*hakfest :
What do you think of the sharpness?
*cei- :
pretty good I think, there's plenty of detail in the stones on the sun-side wall down the bottom
*cei- :
i actually like this photo - there's a good tonal range, and the composition is spot on
*hakfest :
The path is nice yes
*hakfest :
Where it enters the photo
*cei- :
my main criticism is the border - it does nothing for the piece at all
*hakfest :
It does give it a kind of polaroid feel, which may be why I'm not too fond of it
*hakfest :
I was just thinking to myself, why do i not take to this photo
*cei- :
to an extent, but I've been playing with polaroid and I like it
*cei- :
I agree, there is something missing, but I can't put my finger on it at the moment
*cei- :
I think it may have something to do with a lack of focal point
*hakfest :
possibly.

Cheers fellas.

I've been trying different borders of late... maybe something different for this one would be better.

I know what you mean about something missing. I wasn't totally 100% about any of my Great Wall shots to be honest. I think it's because it's just a wall...

i almost passed this one up, it was surrounded by utter crap, as usual in the photography gallery. I'm glad i took another look. The exposure is perfect, and it's very well composed.

Hehe no

Actually, according to China's first astronaut, you can't actually see the wall from space [link]

Rivers are easy to see, as this photo shows [link]
