Description I started playing Final Fantasy VII for the first time. (15 years late... ) The graphics may have aged poorly, but the game as a whole I am finding really fun- haven't gotten bored once in the 20 odd hours I've been playing! I'm at the end of disc one and have to figure out how to beat the boss, it manages to kill me in one blow. :c

Cloud's a character that I'm finding more interesting than I thought I would. I actually drew him once before because I liked his design, but this is the first time drawing him while actually knowing anything about the character. Haha.

Have you heard of Team Fortress 2? That's on there too. [link] So now you know.

HEY I CAN'T TRUST MY INTERPRETATION OF THE GRAPHICS, I THOUGHT CID WAS 50. I was worried you were going to say Yuffie was 11 or 12 or something. Hahah. Well, 16... maybe they can go on a "just for fun" date. I still am really confused about Cait Sith. Does it/he have any actual living parts, or is he totally a remote controlled robot? I thought he said he was being controlled by one of the Shinra. And I can't tell if that cat on his head is alive or not rofl. (if the game is going to explain more about him, don't tell me anything. ) I like the music in Red's hometown. :>

Ah. xD Haha. I never heard of it either. Lol.

LMAO! CLOSE ENOUGH! Cid like... 32 years old. Only a 22 year difference! XD; Well it doesn't really talk about Cait Sith much. I think that is as far as the explanation goes with him.

"He is a cat riding a giant stuffed toy moogle, working as a fortune-teller in the Gold Saucer. He is really a robotic puppet controlled from far away by Reeve Tuesti, Shinra Electric Power Company's head of Urban Development."

There's your answer! XD; He doesn't have that stuffed moogle toy in the movie though. xD I really like all the pieces from the gamed. xD; I still think I listen to Aerith's Theme the most. It's stated somewhere I found that her theme is the most popular one. xD!

Only 22 years younger, same diff.

Still as confused as ever about Cait Sith. Oh well haha. Just one of those things in a game that doesn't make any sense but you just have to accept it \o/ And Aerith's theme does seem to be a favourite among the fans. It's a good one!

Lmfao. xD;

He's apparently robotic. A robotic... cat. Lmao. That's how I understand it as. Shinra made him, he worked for Shrina, then later I guess you could call it changes sides. It makes sense if you understand it. I just don't fully remember if it explains more about him or not. I don't think it does, just what he tells you what it did in Gold Saucer. I'm not 100% sure though.

Haha. Yeah, it was stated to be the most popular. xD; But I think all the pieces are just as amazing as that one. xD;

Hmm, right. So he's not remote controlled? Or he is. I dunno :'D Cait Sith the enigma.

The game definitely has a great soundtrack. The battle theme's grown on me a lot. It's kind of the opposite of the FF13 battle theme: the first time I heard the FF13 one it was like, "BAM THIS SONG IS AWESOME" but it didn't necessarily feel.. any more awesome over time, but with FF7 the first time I heard the battle theme I barely even noticed it, I was like, "meh" but now when I hear it I'm like, "AWW YEAHH" gets me all psyched up haha.

Sarikyu In reply to Phinnimonster [2013-03-18 01:24:13 +0000 UTC]

Cait Sith is a hard to explain character because there's not much of a backstory to him compared to Vincent, Cloud, Sephiroth, Aerith, and the rest it seems. I'm unsure if he's remote controlled, but he has his some self-awareness.

I think there's only a few songs in FF13 that aren't probably orchestrated, though I could be wrong. It's 1 or 2 of them sound kind of technoish to me. After I played FF7, I decided to play the others as well and listen more closely to the music so I ended up loving them all just the same.

The Journey game's music was really good too. xD; I think they were orchestrated. :3 It sounded like they were, so I hope. xD;

Phinnimonster In reply to Sarikyu [2013-03-19 17:34:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the FF13 soundtrack sounds pretty orchestrated to me (especially Lightning's theme).
I think Journey is orchestrated as well (or at least, it sounds very lively!).. a lot of games seem to be including at least a few orchestrated pieces now.. even the non-orchestrated pieces sound about as good as orchestrated- like Fire Emblem Awakening for example... and it's handheld! (Sounds so good with headphones)

I mean the song you hear when you're at the place... I believe Sunleth Waterscape sounds a little technoish to me, but that may just be me? Lol.

Oh cool... apparently there are some electronic aspects in the song(s). xD; Yet it still sounds amazing. :3

I tried playing Fire Emblem, but I couldn't really get into it. xD;

Some of those songs definitely have computer sounds in them, haha.

Aw, which Fire Emblem did you play? I know that kind of gameplay isn't for everyone. It's very chess-like. I like chess. I love the characters in those games too, the support conversations are a lot of fun.

Yeah. xD; I wish I could play it. >: It'd be so much fun, let alone one of the more "relaxing" type games. xD; There's another one I watched the walkthrough of called Flower. It's so pretty. o.o; Next shall be Flow. xD;

I can't remember now. It was for the GBA I think... but there are a lot of Fire Emblems for the hand held console. LOL. I do like chess, but it's a game where you gotta know your rules. xD

Phinnimonster In reply to Sarikyu [2013-03-22 23:28:34 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh, I love Flower! I might even like that game more than Journey- or, at least, I hadn't heard anything about Flower before I'd played it whereas I'd heard a lot about Journey, so it was more of a surprise. The controls are beautiful, the music's beautiful, the visuals... such a neat experience. I like Flow as well, it can get boring if you play it for too long but in short bursts I find it really relaxing. (:

Could it have been Sacred Stones? or maybe the first one that came out in NA, I think it was just called Fire Emblem. Hahah yeah, it's not the kind of game you can just go charging in without thinking. x)

Sarikyu In reply to Phinnimonster [2013-03-26 13:01:00 +0000 UTC]

I like Journey more then Flower. xD; It just feels... more emotional to me. Lmao. I think Flow is boring, it feels too repetitive. >: Though the visuals are pretty. xD;

Herp derp. May be it wasn't Fire Emblem... it was an RPG game for the GBA or GB or something... I can't remember what it was called at all. ~.~ Wasn't strategy based. x.x;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Phinnimonster In reply to Sarikyu [2013-03-26 14:03:34 +0000 UTC]

Journey has more of an "epic" feel to it. But Flower is surprisingly emotional for a game about a flower petal, that's what I find so interesting haha. Yeah, Flow is super repetitive, you kind of have to be in a trance to play it for long periods of time ROFL.

Oh, whoops. Well, if that's the case, you should try out Fire Emblem some time!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sarikyu In reply to Phinnimonster [2013-03-29 11:31:39 +0000 UTC]

I only got one feeling from Flower, it was created to give an optimistic feel, which was the only thing I felt where as Journey I felt happy, sad, brave, couragous, etc.

I'm not gonna rule out that it wasn't Fire Emblem completely, but I think it might've been a SE game or something. I couldn't revive my fallen characters. xD; It wasn't the first FF game, etc. though. I guess it wasn't important. LOL!

Phinnimonster In reply to Sarikyu [2013-03-29 14:05:21 +0000 UTC]

Did you watch the whole thing? There were sad/kinda scary parts too (although they might be more noticeable if you're playing it yourself)
That's true, Journey made me feel a whole range of emotions! It really indeed does feel like a journey. *_*

Ah, I see. So some kind of strategy perma-death game, haha. Speaking of which. I need to try playing Fire Emblem with no restarts and see how far I can even make it rofl :')

Sarikyu In reply to Phinnimonster [2013-04-02 18:28:04 +0000 UTC]

Haha. Yeah, I did, but I didn't feel as many emotions as Journey did though. xD;

Oh, I remember the name of the game now!!! It was Golden Sun! LOL! That was the game. Haha. Finally remembered.

So far I've been having a fairly easy time playing so I've actually been worried about over-levelling and spoiling the game x) Maybe I'd have to go way overboard for that to happen, though.

and thank you!

yeah...the darn wall creature at the temple was a pain...then in the city of the ancients...bigger pain. another thing i'd suggest. attach a water ring to any character that might have Life materia or the phoenix summon.
final boss on disk one loves using aqua lung...

Phinnimonster In reply to Soulreaver1408 [2013-02-27 04:38:16 +0000 UTC]

Water ring- right! I completely forgot I had that. That'll be handy against the pesky aqua lung (which manages to knock out my entire team at their full health). Annoyingly, Aeris has my life and cure materia on her so I can't use them on the boss :s I have plenty of phoenix down and potions, though.
Thanks for the tip, it might be just what I need to win that boss!

Yes, FFVII is fantastic. I recommend playing Crisis Core too, if you have the change. also FFVIII/FFIX are pretty good.

FFIX is next on my list! Crisis Core looks good, I like how it has orchestrated versions of some of the original FFVII songs. If I get a PSP I'll be sure to pick it up (Dissidia looks really fun too).

yeah and Birth by Sleep is pretty good too. It's weird, I thought i'd hate FFIX for being silly and because the animation is less based on Yoshitaka Amano, but it's the first FF game I ever finished.

Oh man, I finished 358/2 days last week! I wish more of the plot was about Roxas after he leaves the organization, but... whatever. oh, fact - if you get a psp, you can buy final fantasies 1 through 9 excluding 3 for about 10 bucks each. fact.

I was wondering. FFVII for the PS1 is kinda rare and expensive. Well I hope you enjoy the rest of FFVII, I kinda tapered off before I could finish Disc 1, which is weird since I like the story so much. Have you seen Advent Children?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Phinnimonster In reply to OxygenOcean [2013-02-27 05:06:24 +0000 UTC]

I've seen most of the PS1 games around for under $40, but VII seems harder to find. And thanks, I hope so too. You should pick it up and play the rest! I haven't seen Advent Children but I want to once I've finished VII. Is it right it takes place 2 years after?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

OxygenOcean In reply to Phinnimonster [2013-02-27 16:20:33 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it takes 2 years afterwards. The movie's plot does rely on a strong understanding of the FFVII game, so that's probably smart.
