Never made it to the part of Naruto where Itachi makes his appearance. Must be a cool dude, though. If he has a crow. I always wanted one. Also, I can't tell a difference between crows and ravens, But none of the reasons will prevent me from faving this piece. It's morbid! I love it.

Ah, he is a pretty interesting character! And yes, a fairly cool dude. Crows are like his mascot. And crows are cool. I'm glad you like it! Thank you!

Very good, I like it.
I'm still not sure if Itachi's birds are ravens or crows, in japanese the word karasu can mean both...

I'm glad you do!
Oh, really? I didn't know that, that's interesting... somehow ravens seem more mysterious, so maybe Kishimoto meant raven. Or maybe it's even both! :')

I really do. I like the soft use of colors, it makes it look nicely dream-like...
Yes, ravens are more mysterious... but then crows are the birds known to haunt battle-grounds for bodies so... I think they both would fit hanging around with Itachi and his cool evil guy style.

The colors tie into the crow/raven's tendency to foreshadow moody, dark tidings. As someone mentioned, it's really nice work. Yes, the feet seem a tad off but that can be remedied. The washed out, blurry effect help portray the concept of deep disturbance and fear. I adore pictures that make me FEEL something. It's almost like he's scavenging on the eve of sunup and my eyes refuse to focus on anything but him. If I had the funds, and if this was a print, it would go in my foyer hallway above a small lamp against a richly colored wall (perhaps a luscious earth tone).
Whoops, sorry for the babbling. ^-^;; I simply love it to pieces though!

Oh, the flattery!
Hmm, a luscious earth tone.. I can imagine that.
Thank you very much! I appreciate the in-depth comment! And yes, that's the kind of feeling I was going for. Glad to hear it comes across that way! Thanks again! (:

That icon is soooo cute. x3
I seriously plan on buying a ton of prints from this site though and decorating my house appropriately. There will even be a His and a separate Her room -- where he can decorate the way he sees fit (a.k.a. a Man Cave) while I can do what I wish in mine. I plan on having or commissioning a few artists to decorate certain parts of the walls, while the remaining portions get artwork.
A rather costly, radical plan but I think it will be gorgeous. I want to wake up, live, and go to bed surrounded by art.

That sounds lovely! There are a lot of prints on here I wish I could get, but I have no means of doing so right now. I'd love to surround my working area with them for inspiration. [:

My only issue is I'd want them already mounted on canvas, but that's more expensive than if I just get the print and get it framed myself. I'm still not sure which would look best on my walls.
o-o
There's this BEAUTIFUL sculpture I want from this dA artist but it costs %1600. D:

Really nice work and I like the muted color scheme in it. The crow's head is render especially well and helps convey the moody feeling. The feet of the crow seem a little off place for it's body size, but other then that it looks good.

Yeah, I could tell something wasn't quite right about the feet area. I'll have to pay closer attention to that next time I draw a bird. Thanks!

From your paintings, it looks like you're off to a fairly good start! Have you been studying color theory?

PencilAndPaperNinja In reply to Phinnimonster [2011-06-29 23:31:18 +0000 UTC]
no actually I haven't. Should I. It is really important for me to get as many tips from other artist's because it is really hard to know what to work on by yourself.

Yeah, it's definitely valuable knowledge to any artist! I recommend James Gurney's book Color and Light: A Guide for the Realist Painter; it explains all the different aspects of color theory very well and shows examples on how to apply what you learn to actual paintings. Very useful!

OK this stuff looks useful, and I actually know more of the color theory than I thought, but I guess seeing it in paintings would help
