Hey hey hey Javert, if anything Jareth is to thank for being a catalyst to Erik's emotional maturity. If he didn't magically poof Eric to Paris to do some spying, Erik would still be sulking and dramatically playing sad scores on the organ (or is it piano?)

DYING every time I look at James' expression in panel 3β that "virile manly man squinty-eyed good-on-ya" approval look, I have definitely seen that one IRL before.Β Β
Incidentally, I like how much more... polished James' appearance has gotten over time. He was so scruffy and tired looking at the beginningβ was he just freshly on the wagon at the time of GND's start/his introduction? Also I can't quite recall when he and Eponine became a thing, was that absorbed from Roommates continuity sometime? I feel like James has his own very elaborate post-POTC character arc going behind the scenes here.

Yeah, a lot carrying over from Roommates overall. Ashe did lovely things with the meta themes of redemption and second chances in the Building-'verse (that sunrise speech at the end of the Dark!Jareth arc, especially) that James was the less-dark and most-receptive character to benefit from, really, besides his EU-derived need to prove himself conflicting with a post-canon awareness of being a not-main protagonist.... a gentleman with character and baggage.

I always saw that as quite smart actually when you think about the maturity level of most of his subjects. It's life changing but not death inducing and it promises eternal discomfort. All in all I'd say it's a good threat.
Although it does seem like it could backfire to have people you don't like smell so awful.

There was some incredibly clever analysis of Sarah's run as symbolic in some fics (KL Morgan's masterpiece, iirc), where the Bog is derived from Sarah's grossed-out resentment of being called on for Toby nappy-changing....
It does seem like it has to double up with banishment to not be a self-defeating punishment, yes....

I'm stuck somewhere between making a joke about Javert having been promoted, (yes, blatant reference to discworld) and saying eew, but leaning towards the first.

Pellets are how owls eliminate things that would not easily pass through their digestive tracks, bones, hair and sharp bits. They poo like all other birds do.
