Description I just got this picture back from one of my customers of the collar and crown that I made for her. I of course didn't get pictures of the collar before I sent it off because I was in such a hurry (Doh!). It has been a huge learning curve for me to make things that aren't masks, but I am so very proud of how wonderful she looks.

Yeah i looked at everything else! would you ever ass chains to your work like a little gold chain?

I have "added" chains to my work before. I do a skull mask that I have added rings and chains to for nose/eyebrow jewelry and a spiderweb mask that I have made with a silver spider in a dangling chain.

This looks amazing and suits the model quit well. Too bad she didn't have someone to take her picture, poor girl.

Look forward to it. I love to see artisans branch out like this. I believe you could make just about anything out of leather. You have amazing skill.

Wow, coming from you that means a lot. I just have to learn how to put in rivets and snaps correctly because right now I completely suck.

Hey, do you do any embossing from the underneath side on leather. I had to do it to get the feather shapes on the wings for the collar. I was wondering what is the best tool to use for doing it. I ended up using some of the wooden clay shaping tools that I use for a lot of my shaping. It looked great on the top side but it left some little lines on the underside that I didn't like so much.

Rivets can be tricky. I have found that you don't want to use to long of a rivet or it will bend. As for snaps, Tandys snaps are terrible. I'm trying to find better ones although I rarely use snaps, I want them to work when I do. LOL

Embossing from the underside is an interesting idea. I have never done it but I have been toying with the idea of making a stamp tool and a complimenting negative to the tool to create the shape all the way through the leather. Something simple at first like a hemisphere to create bump textures and maybe other shapes too. Let me know if some of your experiments work.

This lady's supply store is local to me. The place was founded by the same family in the 1800's and it's always been a harness supply store. She has every kind of top-grade buckle, rivet, snap or fastener you might ever need. Contact Linda with your requests...tell her I sent you. She'll have great stuff at a great price, and she'll ship anywhere.
