Piper has a past in diving and treasure hunting, searching sunken wrecks for valuable objects or useful parts that she can give to other survivors to use in repairs or inventions. She often uses her pokemon as a way to pull up sunken wrecks if they are new enough to be scrapped for working parts.
When Piper isn't diving and exploring the ocean depths, she is running her own bar from her beached ship. She makes homebrew alcohol that she offers to survivors in exchange for whatever they have on hand that interests her.

Personality:
Piper is headstrong, loud and rough around the edges. She can be hot-headed and a little too much for some people to handle. Living her whole life at sea meant she's not used to large groups and doesn't entirely know how to act around strangers so she just remains loud to make up for the fact she has no idea what shes doing.

Piper was born in the Seafolk Village, off the coast of Poni Island in Alola. Naturally her parents were sea-folk and she grew up with the same views. She grew up sailing the oceans and seas, she loved nothing better than the thrill of rough storms and the peace of calm waters. She dives with wild pokemon and battles any threats that might come her way. She isn't shy of jumping in to aid a sea-dwelling pokemon if they need help. Piper built her boat with her parents and left to sail on her own on her 20th birthday. Every year the family meets back up at the Sea Folk village and reunite with food, drinks and tales of what they had done the previous year. Piper has a rather large family, mainly all brothers who she had to keep up with.
Five years later and her sea-fearing life has been everything she wanted. She plays music, carves trinkets from sea-wood, grows her own plants and food, fishes from her deck. Stops to swim, dive and treasure hunt. She was more than content with her life, her partner Caspien by her side through it all. She rarely docked to pick up some minor supplies she needed, selling any treasure she found but did not want to cover the costs and then she'd be right back on the waves. She had fought many pokemon in her time, battles won and trophies earned. She lost her leg in a battle that almost sunk her boat but came out of it with a battle-scar and a story.
Her arrival on the island wasn't dramatic. A light storm caused her boat to sway into the fog that surrounded Nozama. She tried to navigate the weather but ended up beached. She didn't fear it, she gathered she would wait out the weather and just pull her boat back out to the water. A few days followed and the fog never left. She tried to start her boat to sail out of it but for some reason--it refused to work. She tried numerous times, checked her boat over inside and out for problems but found none. There was no reason BoatyMcBoatface wasn't working yet here she was, stranded.
