Description
The falcatosaurs are the second major group of Old World Predators on Gossipiboma, though some species are present in Velorain. One of the major distinguishing features of this clade is the presence of spines on the back, originally present in the barofalcatosaurs, but elongated into large hooks in the eufalcatosaurs.

The largest falcatosaurs comprise the rather small clade of Tyrannorhynchidae. These huge animals specialize in feeding on large animals like glumpits and morotheres, and have a small, compact, hammer-like head with a reduced antorbital fenestra, used for ramming into the flanks of prey, accompanied by a sharp, serrated beak and teeth for tearing out chunks of flesh. These animals are semi-social, traveling in small mother-and-child groups or bands of bachelors.

The gryposaurs form a sister group to the tyrannorhynchids, and like them, they have retained nasal horns derived from their ancestral facial scutes, have dorsal display fins, and have turned their dorsal spines into hooks. Unlike the tyrannorhynchids, gryposaurs have delicate, fragile skulls and jaws, and feed instead on smaller animals and carrion.

The barofalcatosaurs are a primitive group, characterized by their blunt snouts, minuscule dorsal spines, and functional monodactyly. The claws on the weight-bearing digits have been turned into specialized fish-hooks in some species, but the clade as a whole is largely omnivorous, taking over bear-like niches on Velorain left vacant by the overly carnivorous arthrodont mammals.
