Description WIP

Name: Connor Perry

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Species: Espeon*

Hometown: Len Town

Birthdate: September 10th

Nature: Docile

Personality:

+Compassionate: He won't hesitate to be the shoulder you need to cry on if you need it.  He's a very good listener, and cares about people very much.
+Gentle: Connor is typically a very soft spoken person, and it's very rare you'll see him raise his voice or get angry at anyone.  He's very affectionate.
+Independent: For the most part, he can get around on his own, and doesn't usually like to ask people for help.  He doesn't want anyone to see him as helpless, and likes to try and get things done on his own.

/Physical: Not in the way you'd think, Connor relies on touch to get to know people.  He can be almost clingy, but he will always ask beforehand.  He tends to use touch to identify his friends; he especially likes to remember how people's hands feel like so he can "see" them.

-Anxious: Connor is prone to having panic attacks, especially if left alone in unfamiliar places.  He usually can get around pretty well on his own, but if he is left to his own devices for too long, he can get distracted and start getting nervous, and may break down if he can't figure out where he is going.
-Ignorant: Since he's not really used to experiencing things that the world goes through, he can be a bit clueless sometimes in certain situations.  He doesn't have much practice in socializing and doesn't know much about the "norm", so he may say or do things that could be considered ignorant or rude.  He never intends to insult a person, though, so don't worry.

History: Connor always saw things differently from other people.  The main reason being that, well, he was born blind.  Despite that, he was a very open-minded, independent young boy.

From birth, Connor was taught to be careful and cautious; to not talk to strangers, don't wander away from home, stay close.  His parents were very protective of him, always trying to do their best to keep their blind child safe from harm.  But Connor was a curious child, and he couldn't be kept in one place for too long.  He grew tired of staying in the same place, having memorized already how many steps it took to get to each place in the house, and how to get around without bumping into things-in time, he started developing a certain "sense" to it... a sort of psychic echolocation to help him "see".  He needed more than his quiet, small home.  He needed freedom.

His parents' concern was that he would get lost.  They couldn't be with him every time he wanted to leave, and they were worried one day he'd take off on his own and not be able to find his way back.  It took lots of effort on Connor's part to convince his parents he could do it, if his dad could train him to improve his psychic abilities.  Although hesitant at first, he agreed, and soon Connor was able to do more than just get around.  He could begin to identify shapes and the things around him, growing more and more independent each day.  After seeing this change in behavior, his parents agreed to start taking him out more and loosened the leash on him a bit.

Every day Connor started memorizing his surroundings more and more, soon being able to travel to certain places on his own.  He would get a small allowance and go shopping for little things here and there, and his parents became more and more proud of him every day.  They still enjoyed joining their son on his escapades, but he needed to feel free sometimes, so they lessened the tagalongs as time passed.

Finally, Connor felt free, like nothing was holding him back anymore.  There was nothing he couldn't do.

Until one day, he was on his way to the craft store, when a sudden storm hit.  His "radar" fuzzy because of the sudden rainfall, Connor was immediately lost.  Everything had gone black for him.  He was completely blind once again, and he couldn't make heads or tails of where he was or where he needed to go.  Panic immediately swelled up in him, and he couldn't keep it down-he began shaking and crying, screaming for help as he was consumed by his panic attack.

It took 20 minutes for his parents to find him.

For a long time after that, Connor didn't want to leave the house anymore.  The thought of going back out there and possibly losing his "sight" terrified him.  Everything suddenly seemed so big and so impossible for him.  His parents were overcome with worry for their son-he had finally started to feel... normal.  And all at once, it was gone.  His confidence had left him.  They tried so hard to convince him to join them on outings again, but Connor simply refused, staying at home and working on his knitting.  They had tried everything, until they decided that the only way to help him gain his confidence back was to start anew.  Start with something small.

So they decided it was time to move to a smaller town.  Someplace where people were close by, where he could make more friends and have more people around to help him feel safe.

Anxious about the idea, Connor refused at first, but his parents insisted they try it.  They had already found such a nice place in a little growing town called Springleaf... he could grow and adapt to the town as it, too, grew.  The idea, honestly, excited Connor a bit, and his parents had already decided.  So, hesitantly, he agreed.

Extras:

-A bit more info on Connor's psychic "radar"-he can sense the size and shapes of things around him, but cannot see individual details such as colors, textures, etc.  He relies on his other senses to identify things, but uses his "radar" to keep himself from running into people or things around him.

-He is very touch based, and really gets a sense of people's looks by feeling their faces, or hands.  He is always too shy to ask, though.

-He suffers from a stutter, and has a few stims due to stress and slight social anxiety.  He tends to be very outgoing, but still has a bit of a hard time getting up the courage to talk to people sometimes.  When he's nervous, he will wring his fingers or pull on them, or twist his shirt in his hands.  When stressed, he pulls his hair or bites his fingers.  These get worse the more stressed or nervous he is.

-Connor learned how to knit from his mother, though he is definitely no expert.  He tends to drops stitches frequently, but its a hobby he thoroughly enjoys, and he loves to give away the scarves he makes to strangers as a way to make friends.

-Always wears baggy, loose clothing-tight or formal clothes make him very uncomfortable.

-Terrified of car rides, since he can only "see" the inside of the car but can feel that he's moving, he has no idea where he's really going and it makes him extremely nervous.
