YES! I've been sketching forever on the computer, trying to get something out of this defunct hand/wrist of mine, and finally, success! So, now I know when I go back to work and school, that I just have to sketch on paper really big 9_9 oh well. This is the scene from the 1st Lioness book, where Alanna is down in the cave/pit/room in Myles' ruins and has found the sword that will be named Lightning. She is just realizing that something bad is happening and it might not have been the best idea to go charging down there all by herself, as the darkness begins it's attack on her... I imagine her being in that moment (that we've all experienced) where she really wants to shout out to Myles for help, but hasn't enough time to get it all out and just manages a bit of "Uuuunghhh!" Always a heroic alternative
Materials:
Blue prisma pencil, wacom and sketchbook pro. Yes I know the linework is crap with no weight, but my drawing hand has some limitations right now, sorry

She looks so small and scared just there, you can't help but love her. And George and Myles and everyone else, but at the moment it's all about Alanna.

this series has to be my favourite of all of hers, and i've read the whole circle of magic and the trickster and protector of the small. she's my favourite author, apart from brian jacques.

Lovely fanart I really like your style and coloring! It's hard to come by Song of the lioness fanart of this quality! I think you managed to draw Alanna so well. She could reall pass as either a boy or a girl.
I've been dying to illustrate the books myself (not just random fanart, really illustrate) but I've never gotten round to it.

I wonder if Tamora Pierce would ever consider allowing a studio to do it... I'm half a mind to want it and another to detest the idea of it... you can never tell what someone will do under the name of Artistic License.

Your linework really isn't as bad as you seem to think it is. It's not really solid, but it's not bad at all; the quality of your shading and colouring draws the attention away from the linework, making it more of a support than a focus. Not something you want to rely on, but it works in this instance.
Gorgeous, gorgeous piece of work. Now I'll have to actually read the books.
