Description ***So I didn't.

DIXIE
NEUTRAL -Bubble Gun- A tap of the button will shoot a fast moving gumball. Holding down the button will inflate a bubble on the end of the gun which will pop on release for higher damage.
SIDE -Ponytail Twirl- Dixie spins sideways, slapping opponents multiple times with her hair. A lot like the Ice Climbers Squall Hammer, now that I think of it.
UP -Propeller Tail- A fairly straightforward third jump and Dixie's signature ability, she spins her hair around to gain height.
DOWN -Hair Whip Inspired by her colleague Donkey Kong, Dixie smacks the ground with her ponytail to create shockwaves.
FINAL -RAMBI RUMBLE- The crate bursts open and the Kongs rhino friend starts his own personal stampede, with Dixie hanging on for the ride. Rambi can be made to jump and steered left and right but cannot be slowed down.

Why DIXIE?
As previously stated with Cranky, it seems like many people are hoping for a new Kong to show up in Smash. Dixie tends to be the most popular and with good cause: In the context of the DKC games, she is the "third Kong" after Donkey and Diddy so it seems sensible for her to enter Smash in this pattern.

What are her chances?
Good. Better than Cranky's I'd say, but putting together this image presented a problem: Dixie is quite difficult to make an interesting moveset from! She hasn't had too many appearances to forge a unique theme so I could only really make her about at straightforward as Donkey Kong. Also, now that Tropical Freeze has been out for a while and there are no new Kong games on the horizon her relevance is slightly diminished again, but hopefully that won't matter for DLC characters.

VERDICT
If not this game, then very probably the next.

Well, they are monkeys, so I think it's appropriate to have their moves ape each other!

I'llJustGlossOverThatAndSay I wonder if she actually is a monkey? She doesn't have the prehensile tail that Diddy does...

She could be an echo fighter/alt. Skin for diddy Kong.

She mostly fits into Diddy's moveset, yeah, though it wouldn't really be right to give her a jetpack.

Dixie definitely deserves to be in Smash, but I think she's missing something. A lot of her moves would involve hair spins which is kinda limiting in variety. Really don't like that Hand Slap clone move. If DK was only to receive one newcomer in the next Smash I'd rather K Rool, both for having more moveset variety and because he'd make the DK roster look a bit more diverse instead of having three Kongs.

I know Rambi was in DKC2 and Tropical Freeze, but I think it's kinda odd to associate him with Dixie. To be honest I'd give Donkey Kong Rambi as a new Final Smash, especially since Donkey Konga isn't really relevant to DK anymore. It suits him better too. If you still want an Animal Buddy for her Final Smash I'd say pick one that appeared in DKC2 and 3, such as Squitter.

Well yeah I struggled with moves because she doesn't have a whole lot going for her.

What's interesting now is to think back to a time when everybody was hoping to see Diddy and Dixie as a duo. I didn't like the ideas really because it dilutes the uniqueness of the Ice Climbers but it would at least be accurate.
The three DKC games Dixie has been playable in she was always part of a team (....in a way)

I'll be honest I do quite like the Konga Beat final smash, though I do see your point. I'd actually be happy with Rambi too, though I'm not sure we would then need two animal buddy finales (though I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to make them work very differently.)

I know it's not your fault. It's entirely on Nintendo and Rare. I mean, if they didn't replace her with Tiny Kong for DK64 she'd have more to work with.

I never liked the whole "Diddy and Dixie" as a duo idea. Diddy's important enough to stand on his own as an individual rather than being forced into a tag-team. Plus like you said it takes away from the uniqueness of the Ice Climbers. That said, I think a pairing of Dixie and Kiddy would work pretty well. It'd be more representative of Dixie's starring role and plus Kiddie's never been on his own, only teamed up with Dixie. Combining the two would be able to make up for Dixie's lack of moveset variety on her own.

Konga Beat didn't bother me unlike most people (I was pretty good at the getting the timing right in Brawl), but I think Rambi would be much more exciting and relevant to DK (especially since in the Retro Studios games he was made vital for clearing levels he was available in) in addition to being something fresh.

Hmmmmmm not sure I want to see Kiddy in Smash but I see your point.

I wouldn't really be averse to seeing some made up Dixie moves in order to make her unique. Hell, some of the made up elements from Smash end up influencing the original franchises, so why not?

I don't really care to see Kiddy in Smash either I just think it'd make up for Dixie's lack of material to work with. Plus it makes more sense if they ever wanted to represent the tag-team mechanic of DKC games (since Diddy is important enough to stand on his own I think the idea of turning him into a tag-team with Dixie is a disservice to his character).

To be honest, I don't really like Smash having too much influence on the characters in their own series, with a few exceptions like Pit's redesign and Captain Falcon's personality/abilities. I can accept taking a few liberties and making some stuff up for Smash, but then if they implement it into the main series then they'll try to pass it off as any Smash game from then on pulling moves from the games. I know this sounds really weird but I'll give a good example to explain my feelings: imagine if in a new Zelda game they made Ganondorf fight like he does in Smash, just so they can call it a day and keep him as a Captain Falcon clone in Smash. Any getting back on topic i feel like Dixie isn't the kind of character that you'd make up random stuff for, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from there.

I mean heck, take Dark Pit's history. Conceived as a colour scheme, promoted to full character in-series then brought back as a separate fighter! And it's not even like he's a good character!

I see the merits of teaming her with Kiddy but as you say, she doesn't have a lot to work with.

I think giving her something completely new and original would actually be a boon for her future in the DK franchise. Or if you would rather the original franchise having to influence Smash, then she could do with some kind of new 'gimmick' in the DK series, so as to give her more of a reason to appear in Smash!

Fun fact, Dixie was actually in the codex for Brawl, but they deided not to add her in at the last minute. Totally uncool in my opinion.

She was dropped with little to no reason out of the last Smash Bros and wasn't even considered for the Wii-U edition. Why does Nintendo neglect this character so much? About time she got her revenge on everyone Smash Bros style. Totally digging the Final Smash idea, simple but makes sense!Β

Weeeeeell we don't really know the story for Brawl but yeah, I'd like to think she's pretty high up list of DK folk by now.

An thanks! To be honest a Final Smash like this could work for any Kong character but as I said the ancillary apes don't quite have enough diversity to make them more personal. I considered giving them all instruments but it would have been functionally too similar to DKs.

Well all I know is a hack revealed Dixie Kong and Toon Zelda we're considered and coded to be additions in Brawl but we're cut for some unknown reason. But Dixie has a history of always been kicked out. In DK64 Tiny Kong kind of stole her spot light, in Mario Kart Wii Funky Kong was chosen over her (really another heavy racer? Wasn't DK enough!?) and I'm pretty sure that was almost a decade gap before she re-appeared in any game until either Diddy Kong Racing DS or Mario All Star Baseball. So yeah I feel bad for that lil' Kong : ( Β Could Nintendo squeeze a lyric for her into the DK rap!?

Β I think it's a cool idea if one of the Kong's would used the animal buddies from the games to assist them as a Final Smash, it just makes sense : D

"Now here's a Kong you might recognise,
despite our best efforts to compromise,
We leave her out of the last five games
And you get afro'd Kremlings for days and days."

Yeah I can see the potential there.
