I coulda sworn Isabella's significant other was named Lelio... Which means, unfortunately, that The Vampire Lestat LIED to me. Unless he goes by many names...

The lovers do have many names. In "A SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS" Their names are Clarice and Silvio. It really depended on the actors and the names they developed over time. The name Isabella became one of the more popular names because of the actress Isabella Andreini in the 16th century. Apparently she epitomized the role the way some actors epitomize Arlecchino or Pulcinella. Also, I suspect that lying is attribute of the vampire canon, but it's been awhile since I've read an Anne Rice novel. : )

Prob'ly. Lestat was talking about being in the commedia and talked about being Lelio, but he's not exactly the most trustworthy...

I really like these... though I'dve colored them prior to inking, myself.

There goes to show how observant me is... I saw her green hand that breaks the frame and I thought... why the heck is her sleeve unconnected to ANYTHING? ...Then I noticed that the green stuff isn't a sleeve, it's some weird dangly lace.

Yeah...They look better on hot press, but the scan always does something stupid with the grain, so I have to reduce the noise and they kind of end up looking a little mushy. Oh well, they actually look pretty good in print. I got the dangly handkerchief from one of Portia's costumes in "The Merchant of Venice." It made more sense in the movie. Ah well. : P

Ahhh. Well, that explains it. I'm so not cultured I haven't ever seen a Shakespeare performance.

Then you have no excuse. But The Merchant of Venice is a film now, starring Al Pacino. Watch it. Or I shall be forced to reply by comments broken down by the letter. Such is your punishment. XP

I said I hadn't seen a performance. I don't count movies as performances. ; p I've seen the Pacino Shylock and that whole thing. Great film. And though it's only based on Shakespeare, I have seen Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. Oh, and Midsummer Night's Dream with Tutillo or Tuturo or whatever his name is playing Puck.

Still, no excuse. And it's Stanley Tucci, for your information. *Raspberries.
