This might just be me but I find the tire strapped to the front humours.

Me too, my brother had one for a while that he had gotten for it's engine for his Pacer... I miss the Pacers we both had too!

I don't know what it is, but albeit it has definitely a strange design, I've always had a thing for the Pacer, too. There's just this something about it that I like. I still by far prefer the Gremlin, though...
I wish I could've seen more AMC... Damn the fact that I live in Canada... :C

Sweet little car, and that's a neat story that it reappeared. I can't wait to see Cars 2 since one of the evil henchmen is a rusty Gremlin just like this guy, only orange.

You were both lucky, then. Alas, I got my license far too late to find any reasonably priced Pacers. I blame Wayne's World and the Mirthmobile for that one.

LOL, we had them just a few years ago, sold them to move onto other vintage cars.
You can still get a Pacer or Gremlin now, you just need to look!
I recently discovered where the Mirth mobile limo is sitting... so tempting to try to get it!

i dont go much on the gremlins there ok but not that good
i mean they spelled the end for the muscle cars
were they the ones that neither door was the same size or fitted properly?

QuanticChaos1000 In reply to ahhhscary [2010-01-28 17:33:36 +0000 UTC]
They had nothing to do with muscle cars at all, they were after the muscle car movement introduced as an alternative to imports.
Pacers had the passenger side door longer then the drivers side for easy passenger loading and unloading, I never encountered fitment issues on good ones, but the beater Pacer my brother drove had saggin doors so they looked like they fit poorly.

"Well, the frame is rusted out, the steering is sloppy, the engine has a knock, the transmission fluid is thick as tar, the rear diff rattles, the gauges don't work, the dome light caught fire, the heater leaks, I can see through the floodboards, the tires are odd size, and the fuze box is made up of fuses covered in tin foil. BUT... the 8 track works just fine!"

No. It reminds me of my childhood when I saw quite a few of them.I saw a lot of Pacers too. They were all products of the American Motors Corporation. The Jeep Cherokee is part of that legacy

Oh believe me, I know their heritage, I've owned Pacers and a Gremlin in the past, and I used to have a 1966 AMC Marlin, I still have a 1965 Rambler Marlin!
I osed to see Pacers and Gremlins as a kid too, I always thought they were neat!

The earlier ones were the best. Although the latest ones ... Oh well, no point in telling a tale that won't be believed.
Truck-like drivetrain under those AMC products; never let you down!

Same drivelines as the later Jeeps!
There are still Pacer related parts in the 2010's even!

Rust isn't a problem as long as it is not too much.
We had an Opel which had Rust on the mountings of the shock absorbers. That was the reason why we couldn't continue using it.

Rust on the mounts, or the mounts were rusted through?
