This totally counts for #mermay , right? Even though the guy still has legs...I wish I had some story snippet to go with this, but alas. Rain meets his lady (portrait as a wonderful blur of watery pixels here) many years before the start of a State of Equilibrium, and I never bothered to write it down. I just always imagined it with him swimming (he likes doing that) and her just looking at him from the shore.
and yes, my elves are secretly mermaids. Well, only half of them. The other half are secretly unicorn-fauns
All sorcerers are shapeshifters, to some degree, and well, all elves are sorcerers. Though I don't think I've drawn Rain with his magnificent tail before. It's supposed to be thicker though, and so heavy he can't lift it off the ground once he is out of the water. Some more Rain and/or Meadow:

That's such a nice scene, makes me slightly sad there isn't any snippet. ^^ Like that blurry effect a lot, perspective and tilted angle create great effect as well. The colours are so lovely in harmony, it's just pealising to look at all the green, blue, purple mix.

Thank you! maybe I'll write something when I start working on book 2, when elves are much more present. Elves in love are so different than humans in love, I'd love (hehe) to see how that works and explore it

thanks! and that's a hard one... I've gathered brushes with a natural/grungy texture over the years to make my own set. Some come from Adobe's own natural brushes sets, a few from BRUSHES and from the lazy brush set , but I think the one you see the most here is this one (also from the lazy brush set): The Awesome Texture Brush .

thanks! haha, I can almost see Rain polishing the tail's scales every day to a perfect shine, using only a leaf (which is why he has to do it every day, it's not very effective).
