Description Volarites are the living fragments of the deceased Volare.
After the Kinetic Bombardment upon Volare in hawaii in 1968 and the massive explosion of the Vastator's corpse, the remnants of it's colossal crystalline carcass formed a living island. Pelehikoko island, as it was named, was a no mans land due to high radiation and the energy consuming nature of Vastator "biology", draining the mitochondria in the cells of any animal or person who wandered too close.
This isolation made it a mystery of the developments upon the island, that is until 1983 when hovering creatures known as Volarites traveled in swarms from Pelehikoko too locations of high energy, cities being big targets.

Cilia of sorts sprout from the "wings" and seem to give a Volarite it's avian qualities, though it's unknown how. Despite being less volatile then the much larger Vastators, their high aggresion and predatory nature makes them a major threat to humanity. Even in death, the grenade like explosion of their dying body can prove to be deadlier than it's sharp grasping tendrils and hungry oral cilia.

The only times they arent aggresive is in daylight. Volarites will root them selves to sunny vantage points and photosynthesize with their "wings", the cilia flowering to grab as much light as possible.

Oops, thought the comment was on a different picture.

I put most of my focus on the Volarite, the figure was more last second.

(update) Fixed the legs up a bit, though quite roughly.
