He isn't the ruler of the underworld, he's the ruler of hell. Hades is the ruler of the underworld. Also, the underworld actually has three sections: Elysium (for good people), Asphodel (for neutral people), and Tartarus (for bad/evil people).

Going to say here that you're entirely wrong:
-Satanism does not promote murder, stealing, or rape. Anybody who thinks it does is grossly misinformed; Satan himself has even stated that those who commit blood sacrifice are "lunatics". We are without rules... but not without morals
-Satan didn't originate with the bible, just that version of him did.
As well, he's been alive far longer than christianity has been around.
-As stated above, Satan precedes the bible; the book was written in part to slander him.
The bible is fiction, and I do not believe a single word of it.
-One does not "worship" Satan. Worship implies slavery. Satan is an ally, mentor, a friend, a father figure... not some god to slavishly bow down to and follow the every command of.
-Satan does not rule a "burning pit of suffering and death". He is the ruler of his own planet and his own species; a planet that looks similar to an ancient utopian version of Earth. The christian version of hell is merely a stolen allegory for the base chakra, which he does rule over... that's where the confusion comes in, I suppose.
In closing, actual Satanism promotes complete freedom. Satan disproved of a popular game I used to play: I would spend hours of my time on it, instead of doing something productive... but not once did he force me to stop playing or tell me to stop.
