Description Ganondorf: "Yup, that's right, I'm capturing this one this time."

I think this is pretty self-explanatory, but I'll talk about it anyways. If you're like me, you've loved Princess Zelda since you were small. She's like this beautiful, graceful, kind of mysterious princess who has powers to see the future. She often breaks out of her damsel-in-distress trope and helps Link in some sort of way throughout his adventure--in fact, most of the time, Link can't save the day without her help--unlike her poor counterpart Princess Peach who is often stuck simply being the damsel-in-distress. My favorite Zelda games are actually the ones that are about Link and Zelda. This is why my favorite Zelda games are--well, except for Majora's Mask, which is one of my favorites and has nothing to do with anything--Spirit Tracks, Wind Waker, and Skyward Sword.

One thing, however, that always irks me a bit about how Nintendo handles her character is that usually, throughout the game, Zelda is posed as someone else (or in disguise as someone else) and she's like super cool and awesome. I particularly liked her as Sheik in the Ocarina. To me, it was always fairly obvious Sheik was actually Zelda, and they did a great job preserving Zelda's somewhat quiet, and graceful personality while she was in disguise as Sheik. I didn't like Tetra so much because it felt like Zelda was just a part of Tetra, and that Zelda didn't even exist at all in this game because she was too 'girly' to help take on Ganon. But what bothers me about the whole Zelda in disguise thing is that the MOMENT she puts on her usual pink garb and dress she's captured, and she's made into Link's 'trophy', or 'goal' again. Like, literally TWO second after she puts her garb back on. Which is why I adore Spirit Tracks so much. Zelda is super girly in this game. But she still faces her fears to help Link no matter what. She does this while wearing her pink dress as a ghost and flying into Darknuts to help Link. It's great.

Anyway, even though I love Peach and Zelda, I think Palutena has gotten to do more in that single Kid Icarus game than they've gotten to do their entire careers. What I appreciate about Palutena, was that she wasn't transformed into Pit's ultimate goal, or trophy at the end--which was where I thought it was going--although she was taken over by some sort of bug for a bit, which wasn't because she was weak or defenseless, but more because it was an accident.

So what would Zelda's Adventure be about? Well... Link is the prince of a neighboring kingdom in this one, and he's been childhood friends with Zelda for a long time. When Zelda comes to visit one day, Link is gone! She goes searching for him with her trusty wand of Gamel--Cane of Pacci. And Link could help her throughout the game by sending her items through a portal, and at the end, Link can even escape and help her seize the day.

I was thinking about it the other day... and why DOESN'T Ganon just capture Link. He's a way easier target than Zelda. Zelda is usually elusive and clever, but Link is just kind of bumbling along in plain sight slowly collecting Sages/Sacred Flames/whatever.
