-------------------------------------------
Charmander are bipedal salamander Pokemon that starts its life ironically in the water, which it is known to be weak against. Often mistaken as Dratini Younglings, young Charmander have a film around the tips of their tails to avoid water seeping into the exposed holes. Compared to young Bulbasaur, Charmander have gills on the sides of their heads and only possess their front legs. Once Charmander grow in strong enough legs, they leave the water and shed the film on the tips of their tails. Once this happens and the Pokemon cleans up the area, the tail ignites into its signature flame. This happens due to chemical reactions that secrete from the tail and react to oxygen, that being a mixture of Pyrophoric materials. Charmander are solitary Pokemon never seen with other Charmander until they evolve into Charmeleon and search for mates. Much like Bulbasaurs and Squirtles, Charmander are ready for evolution in 16 months (1.3yrs). Sick Charmander are noted easily by their tail flames much more quickly than their body appearances, which the flame dies out and the tail tip crinkles up once the flame goes out. Due to this, Charmander cannot retain a water mass to keep themselves cool and keep a moderate temperature from the hot fluids hence they practically cook from the inside and shrivel up resulting in death.
In the wild, Charmander are very cautious with their tails and where they throw around when travelling through heavily forested areas during their first few months of life. Eventually the Pokemon has learned to control the tail flame, allowing them to travel through grassy areas without setting things ablaze constantly. They remain living in mountainous areas and plains, which they hunt for Bug Pokemon to eat. They also bare different patterns in the wild compared to domestic Charmander, as these patterns help for camouflage against predators. These patterns also draw in prey due to the bright colouring, they use their tail flames to lure in Bug Pokemon at night especially Moth Pokemon. The bump on their backs are said to be an overgrown spine bone, though it's been shown to absorb rain water into a pocket organ that keeps the hot fluids cool as a secondary overheating defense.
Charmander are an endangered species much like all known "Starter Pokemon", which programs have been started to make sure the species does not die out. However becoming domesticated, they could not be released into the wild. So they are used as a way to teach how flammables work and given to young Trainers who are starting out their adventures and in need of an easy going Pokemon.
Shiny Charmander are a genetic mutation with their brightly yellow colouring and green eyes compared to the original orange colouring and blue eyes. Not all can be said the same for other patterned Charmander in the wild, this doesn't give Charmander any disadvantages in the wild. Many people try to breed or catch shiny Charmander over any other type of Charmander found.
Their diet mainly consists of Bug Pokemon, rare to see them eat small aquatic Pokemon due to the dangers of falling into the water. Although their tails don't go out permanently due to getting wet, it does end up letting out some of the flammable liquids into the water itself. Making it susceptible to bursting into flames on the surface while rare, has happened in the past. Charmander all gather together during winter months to hibernate until Spring, these Pokemon are seen travelling in clusters in the Autumn months to find deep caverns to hibernate. Charmander eggs hatch within 20 days, though it's not uncommon for some to hatch later than others.
