Wartortle are semi-bipedal turtle Pokemon who have evolved from Squirtle after 16 months (1.3yrs). During this stage of their lives, they are known to be a bit more feisty compared to Squirtle. Though domesticated Wartortle are more dormant with this personality due to being raised from Squirtle. Wartortle have developed feathery ear-like growths on their heads and tails, which feel fairly soft depending on which species of Wartortle it is. Once 32 months (2.6yrs) go by, Wartortle are able to evolve into Blastoise where before evolution they start to shed their feathery growths.

In the wild, Wartortle are known to rally around a single Blastoise on large beaches but it's also not uncommon to find Wartortle by themselves or in small groups of their own. Unlike domesticated Wartortle, wild Wartortle do not have the blush looking cheek pattern as they're only mainly exclusive to domesticated Wartortle. It's unclear why other than aesthetic purposes to make them appear more friendly, though said pattern vanished upon evolution. Wartortle have also developed two small fangs that protrude from their mouths, which helps them crack hard shelled meals.

Wild Wartortle primarily thrive in the wild as those who've come from the reviving program, people who catch wild Wartortle outside of their Squirtle stages tend to have trouble training due to their feisty natures. Though people have said that the bonding seems to be stronger this way skipping the Squirtle stages.

Shiny Wartortle are genetic mutations from their usual colouring of indigo with a brown shell and deep yellow front with a soft blue feathery coating. Shiny Wartortle have a lighter purple body colour with a green shell and lighter front body, with a different colour tone to their feathery coating. Different wild Wartortle have different type feathered looks to their tails and ears, with the Pig-Nosed looking the most like a minogame.

Wartortle are omnivores, eating many Bug and small fish Pokemon. During the winter months, Wartortle are known to live under the ice during these times where they harbor in small dens dug into the side of rivers and ponds before the freeze. Using their tails and ear feathers, they can store a copious amount of oxygen bubbles that allow them to breathe for long periods of time while searching for food.
