Description
While the Justice League were dealing with not only The Syndicate, but also Maxwell Lord’s team AND The Shadowpact, several more heroes were dealing with the Syndicate members Jonny Quick, Onomatopoeia, Wotan, and Talon somewhere else in the world. The Syndicate has decided to up their game and try to ambush the heroes of the world before unveiling their masterstroke: a mysterious weapon that would allow them to impose their twisted sense of justice upon the universe! A team of four heroes, consisting of the Guardian, Huntress, Red Tornado, and Smasher, went blow-for-blow with the deployed Syndicate vigilantes in an American city, causing mass panic and property destruction. The fight ended when they managed to capture Jonny Quick and knock out Talon, the most capable fighter of the Syndicate (after his teacher Owlman, of course). The other Syndicate members retreated with the unconscious Talon, leaving Jonny in the heroes’ custody. In a warehouse, the heroes bound Jonny in heavy-duty chains and interrogated him. To make a long story shot, the only info Jonny Quick would give them was his real name: Jonas Longshadow. Dumbfounded by this revelation, Smasher took off his mask and revealed that he’s Tye Longshadow, Jonas’ long lost son. In tears, Jonas said that he was told Tye was dead by the Syndicate, and that, by joining them, he could get his revenge on those responsible! The other heroes undid his bounds and he told them what they wanted to know. Guardian then tried to contact the Justice League, but their communications were cut off, somehow. The four heroes and the face-turned Jonny Quick decided to infiltrate the Syndicate’s headquarters, via the teleportation module Jonny has on his person. Upon arriving at the headquarters, the team was met by the full force of the Syndicate, including the leaders Ultraman, Owlman, and Superwoman. The heroes squared off against the Syndicate, with Smasher and Jonny going against Ultraman himself, when it was revealed that Powerhouse anticipated Jonny’s betrayal, knowing that his son was still alive. A stasis pod unlocked and out came their REPLACEMENT speedster: Godspeed! Jonny narrowly managed to incapacitate Godspeed in battle before he started running towards Powerhouse. Powerhouse’s eyes glowed, and another countermeasure towards Jonny activated: disabling his artificial resistance to friction. In that burst of speed, Jonny Quick burst into flame in the atmosphere of the citadel. Crucially injured, Jonny was tossed, by Powerhouse, out the nearest window… into the vacuum of space. Smasher, Guardian, Red Tornado, and Huntress were defeated and locked up in the citadel’s brig, and Powerhouse retired to the chamber where they were keeping the weapon… and the captured Connor Kent, hooked up to the weapon.
Notes:
* Godspeed is Augustus Heart, a crime boss that seemingly died when he tried to gain The Flash’s superspeed powers but evaporated from an overload of it. In truth, his consciousness traveled to the event horizon, where all matter becoems energy and data. Powerhouse retrieved Heart and gave him a containment suit for his new energy form, saying he can give him a new human body in exchange for his help.
* It was Eobard Thawne’s (a member of the Cult of Algol) secret experiments on Jonas and his pregnant wife that caused Tye to become super-strong and large and Jonas to gain superspeed. The infant Tye, whose mother died giving birth to him, was taken away by the American government (specifically CADMUS, a front for Algol), and he eventually became Smasher. It was Powerhouse who exacerbated the idea that Tye was dead, causing Jonas to become Jonny Quick.
* Turns out that Syndicate’s headquarters is a camouflage satellite orbiting Earth.
