I’m back from my little vacation! Back and ready to present my latest TRADITIONAL piece of art: “The Final Blow”!There isn’t really much to say here, is it? The scene shows “Reptile” in action – a fearsome battle with the ruthless Barbarian hordes of the Eastern lands.
I certainly love the reddish colours and the overall battle dynamic. It was very annoying to do “posers” and “character sheets” all the time… so enjoy this new action scene!!

Pencils, Inks, Markers, Acrylics (and NO digital stuff this time!)
Working time:
4 days (about 30 hours)

My friend has done a coloured version of my sketch lately and his choice of colours was a good help/inspiration for my own choice of colours. His idea to use a reddish background (evening burning sky) was very appealing. THANKS, buddy! ^^

I just didn't do it right here because of the content... but Reptile does use his fangs and claws in my comics!

I use a normal HB pencil for my sketches and pencil drawings. For the line art, I use a metal pen and liquid black ink. For the colouration, I use coloured pencils, permanent and clothing markers and some acrylics and brush.
First, I do a rough sketch to be sure about composition and the pose of all figures involved. Then, I do a fine pencil drawing. This must not be TOO detailed, since I have to erase it again, after all. The next step is to ink the pencil. This means, I do a clean line art in black and white and erase the pencil with a rubber later. And then, I colour the line art with a mixed method of combining pencils and markers and acrylics.
Usually, I start adding basic colours to the line art with markers. Then, I do some shades and small highlights with coloured pencils. In the end, I use acrylics and brush to add the very top highlights and brightest light effects.
My pictures are usually of the size DIN A 3 and take 4 days to finish. But 1 day means 4 to 8 hours each day, when I can afford the time.
So much for my "wonders"... ^^"

Starting a fistfight with a reptilian is a bad idea. First off, they have scales, which isn't all too soft. Second, they have claws.
Both = you're the one who's getting hurt.

Huh... when I see pictures like this one, I wonder, how the hell did those lizards lose the war against humans. Sure they had worse weapons, no armours, and so on. But such Reptile doesn't seem to need any weapon at all - he kills multiple opponents with bare hands.
Impressive artwork, nice to see one of your "classic" pieces of art from time to time.

My Reptilians are not "stupid", but my Rulusians (humans) ARE more intelligent, after all. Also, the entire war machinery is more sophisticated... compare to the native-like Reptilians.

I recite this, because it is one of the main reasons why did I, while creating my own sci-verse, decide to make lizards victorious in their war against humanity. For change
The problem is, I can only write about this, for now. I'm poor at drawing 
Not to mention... your Reptilians did win a war with humans, as well - as far as I know. But they were both on quite low civilization level, humans didn't stand a chance in such fight... Weren't you planning to make any story set in that time (like the one about Thoral, who is mentioned in this Zeittafel only)?
And, speaking of tradition, did you ever think about making any remake of your oldest comics?

This is a nice use of traditional medias and no digital extras added to enhance this image I have to say quite nice. It really does look like a scene right out of comic book or good enough for a comic cover as Reptile faces off against the Mongols barbarians of the east. It really does look believable in its pose, colors, shading, perspective really can see it in the 4 days you spent working on this. I see it even down to the red background that besides being the color of the skies a representation of his anger also to the barbarians, have to say some fantastic work I like quite much.

Indeed, no digital enhancement have been used - despite from scanning and using some contrast.
Ow, in fact this scene WOULD be the same as if I had done a comic page... my comics would look the same way. ^__^

Hehe- amazing level of detail you put on here. What caught some of my attention is the texture work on the barbarians' fur collar with expressive strokes increasing in value- I always like that, besides Reptile's scales.
But yeah, great use of warm colors to capture to the intensity of the battle. I can also see a lot is going on by the movement of some objects flying and whipping in the air too. |D

Indeed, the fur textures and scale textures are one of the rather impressive aspects of the artwork. This is no showing off... it is a fact. ^^
