AVS Flight of the Nighthawk in Faime Drawlloween 2018
and
I completely ran out of time to do all the prompts, so instead, I decided to pick a couple of my favorites and spend time working them into one polished piece... like a show entry for my own personal grand finale for Drawlloween.
Nadya found some fun aqua-tinted contacts, to match their costumes and it looks like the pair is having a great time presenting their masquerade costume.
How do you paint bokeh backgrounds... mine turned out nothing like what I imagined (despite reworking it a few times)?
And that's a wrap for me (for Drawlloween... hopefully I'll still get my Tokoween image finished in time).Β

That is a COSTUME. wowwwww
The colours are so so beautiful and I love the gradient blending of blues. It has such a marine/ocean vibe to it and Hawk's dark coat offsets it perfectly. (Same for the way his tail almost mimics the costume with its usual blend of grey). The feathers are so cool, but that drape of fabric down his neck is my favourite part by far. There's some real sense of weight in the folds, somehow and yet the endds feel light and floaty; almost like the fabric is less dense the lighter it gets. I have no idea how you did it but the effect is amazing. The matching masks, too!!! The gold just finishes this all off perfectly.

I definitely had fun with that costume - masquerade meets halloween meets... IDK, something else fantasy-esque.Β
I definitely did not go for realism (could you imagine Nighthawk trying not to step on the feathers of flowy fabric, otherwise 
But it was so much fun and I'm glad you think all the fabric, folds and gradients work so well.

And oof, yes definitely leave the realism behind for this. We don't want any sprained tendons. I'd love to see the risk assessment they did for this show if it were real

Aahhhh yes, here it is again, a wonderfull and amazing piece of art from you! I love looking at your art!
The colours work so well with this horse, and you've worked out the fabric so well. I looks so light, flowy, glittery and soft!
And those little details of light in the tail and the hair.
Oh, and if Nadya ever would like to dress up as a Disney princess for another halloween or something, I would suggest Tiana, from princes and the frog. Seeing her like this, reminded me of her!

You have no idea how much that means to me - coming from an artist of your skill level (and one who's art I love so much).
I took my time, and came back to this over many sittings/days so that I could keep trying to find things to improve.Β I know I have a long ways to go, to get to where I'd like to be, but it really means a lot to me to hear you say you can see an improvement.
