I don't think so. They hugged each other a couple of times. They had a similar embrace in the anime when Mika first drinks Yu's blood, but I sketched this before then.

To me, Mika seems obsessed with Yuu to the point of being in love with him. But I could be wrong. Mika was obviously in pain by the scene where he bites Yuu and Yuu simply wanted to help him.

Yu is Mika's last close human contact, which appears to be something very significant for a vampire. Once Yu dies, most of Mika's remaining humanity should leave with him. I think Mika would act the same toward any of his family members and not just Yu, if any of them had survived. Mika had the thing he valued most ripped away from him and has been isolated and raised by Ferid, who is clearly quite abusive, for all these years. Mika is going to have a difficult time becoming attached to anyone at this point. Even Krul, the only other person he was close to, was taken from him. I would not be surprised if Ferid passed the time during the past four years killing off or torturing anyone who got closed to Mika just to torment him further.

I think Mika's fear of being a vampire forever is what kept him from drinking human blood during the time he and Yu were separated. He doesn't want to be forced to watch those he care about, specifically Yu, age and die while he lives on forever young, another reason why he may be hesitant on making new friends, but I kind of suspect Yu may become immortal as well if he becomes a full demon like Asuramaru. I really think Ferid has a really twisted way of showing 'love' to Mika and Krul like tolerating rudeness from them while probably killing humans and other vampires for much less. The only time I've really seen Ferid show anger was when he dragged Mika away from the battlefield at Shinjuku.
Krul also appears to show her gentle side only to Mika. She might have saved him for her own reasons but I really think she genuinely cares for him and his well being too. Yu, on the other hand, seems to have a love/hate relationship with Guren as his guardian. He may not be as twisted as Ferid but he can also be insufferable sometimes too.

If Yu became a full demon, then Mika would be forced to forget about him, kill him, or imprison him. Krul was all-for turning Yu into a vampire, and even Ferid offered to do so before. Mika really loathes himself. Instead of just hating a vampire, I think Mika also wanted to suffer as punishment for getting his family killed. Ferid is very twisted. Have you read the light novels that tell Crowley's story? His logic may be sound, but he seems to judge love and hate equivalently. In the case of vampires, they lose their emotions over time, so they may really turn out to be the same to them in the end.
I think that really might be the only time we've seen Ferid somewhat angry.
Krul was very sweet toward Mika. She definitely saved him for her own reasons, but she also openly favored and spoiled him. They were really cute together in the manga. I think Yu and Guren genuinely love each other as family, but Guren is also using him for his own purposes. Krul openly uses Mika while Guren keeps it a secret. I don't believe Yu dislikes Guren anymore than he would any decent parent.

I thought Yuu already becomes a demon when he took the trumpet in chapter 40. He may never be able to become human again; the best he can probably do is learn how to control his powers and suppress them, maybe learning how to shift his forms between human and demon at will. Its usually extreme emotions that makes him transform and Ferid probably knows that so he uses Akane's head to set him off just to prove that his drug works. He's the kind of person who likes those kind of twisted jokes.
I think Krul and Mika have a pretty unusual parent/child relationship that almost seems romantic at times. Because she openly favors him, he becomes an object of jealously for the other vampires so they shun him. Guren says he doesn't have the luxury of time to save people who don't serve a higher purpose so I assume its the same with Krul as well. Even after he finds out Guren saves him for his own purposes, Yuu still remains loyal to him though you can tell he resents the fact that Guren delights in reminding him everyday that he owes him his life as his savior, mentor, and guardian, probably because he worries about Yuu siding with the Hiragis.

He is already a namanari. Although they have a drug to stop his progression, it is possible he may never return to being human again. Likewise, there is a good chance Mika may never be human again either.
I think Ferid is going to enjoy intentionally setting Yu off in the future. He has a ton of secrets and his past with Mika to use as fuel.
I think a master-servant relationship explains Krul and Mika best. She kisses him by turning him, and directly biting and drinking blood is highly pleasurable to both parties. They went on like that for four years. She taught Mika the vampire world, took care of him, fed him her blood daily, and supported the idea of rescuing Yu. Not to mention, she could kick Ferid's butt. Mika is not the type of person to have no feelings after four years of that degree of devotion. It's like taking care of a younger, more dependent lover. Of course, it wasn't a relationship Mika volunteered for or wanted in the first place (he hated it quite a bit), but their relationship definitely developed for the best as time went on.
I recall Guren only saying that to Yu once. It was after he talked with Mahiru-no-yo, too, so it may have even been more of the demon talking. He was definitely concerned with the Hiragis at that time.

I think Mika may consider it because he is scared of being alone. However, it looks like vampires have a complex about turning people with their own blood. Saito gets Krul to turn Mahiru instead of himself while Ferid does the same with Mika. Ferid also uses Saito's blood to turn Crowley instead of his own. If they use their own blood, that person becomes more like a servant than a friend and will always be weaker than them. Mika might let Ferid do it if things turned out that way. However, I believe Mika would respect Yu's wishes, even if Yu wanted to die. Since turning Yu into a vampire would be the easiest way to fix his demon problem AND free them from Ferid but hasn't happened, it is clear that Mika is in no rush to resort to that. If it came down to it, I think Yu would choose to become a vampire just like how he became a seraph and demon just because he does not want to leave Mika alone, though.

How would turning into a vampire solve Yuu's demon problem? I would think that's basically trading one damned existence for another. If using their own blood to turn a human will make him/her weaker then them, then Ferid probably made a mistake using Krul to change Mika since that could make Mika potentially strong enough to kill him since Krul is stronger then Ferid, right? I don't see how Ferid could over look that.
I believe Mika is getting near his wits end with their latest encounter with Ferid because even though they are not livestock anymore, he still holds power over Mika's and Yuu's lives with all the secrets he's been keeping. They're caught between a rock and hard place since they can turn to neither the demon army or the vampires and Ferid may be the only person who can provide them with answers.
Yuu is the kind of person who's willing to become anything to save his friends, you're right about that. If he becomes a vampire, he and Mika would have all the time they needed to find a cure together if it exists since it may take years, decades, or even centuries.

If Yu became a vampire, he would be strong and would have self-control. He wouldn't go around slaughtering his friends or anything anymore. Since he already has a contract with Asuramaru, he would be able to continue using his demon gear as well.
Ferid wanted Mika to be strong intentionally. A vampire sired by a 2nd progenitor has the potential to become a 7th progenitor while a vampire sired by a 7th has the potential to become a 13th. At least, that's how it was centuries ago and why Crowley is pretending to be a 13th. None of the series running now have explained how a progenitor achieves a rank. Age is also very important, and Ferid likes the thrill of living on the edge, like when he taunted Krul back in the manga and threatened to blackmail her. Ferid and Crowley both have the same sire, but Ferid is much older than him. Even so, he intentionally ruined Crowley's life. I don't want to spoil it if you haven't read the Michaela LNs yet. Since Ferid is older, Crowley will probably never be stronger than him. Mika not only has a 3rd progenitor as his sire rather than a 2nd, but he is far younger than either of them, so he should never be stronger than either Ferid or Crowley using the standard strength progression for vampires.
And poor Mika is the only one who knows for certain just how bad their situation is. The others are quickly catching on, though.
Those two would definitely stick together and look after each other for all that time, too. Of course, they would probably end up as Ferid's play things as well.

I can imagine vampires growing stronger with age but they aren't invincible and can probably still be taken down by a younger vampire or even humans. That would probably explain how desperate the vampires are to stop the seraph experiments by the humans since it could be a serious threat to them.
I think if I were to live for hundreds, thousands of years, I would suffer from hideous boredom too. Ferid might not be interested in power at all, just finding ways to keep himself entertained. The sad thing is that even if Yuu and Mika manages to kill Ferid, he would still hold power over their lives if their questions remain unanswered. So if they want their answers, they're going to have to tolerate Ferid for a bit longer.
I think Yuu may still be able to control his demon powers without becoming a vampire but that would probably take a great deal of willpower and more control over his emotions. Since he's still very young and impulsive, it won't be easy.

A younger vampire can be stronger than an older one, depending on inheritance and things. Clever strategy is the best way to overcome a stronger vamp, though, like when Ferid and Crowley surprised Krul. The seraphs and cursed gear the humans developed made it possible to kill vampires, too.
The seraph experiments are also what wrecked the world this badly in the first place. They seem like a really terrible thing.
Ferid has said that he is only focused on relieving his boredom. Ferid is holding such information and medicine and everything hostage, that they would be in a grave predicament even if they chose to kill him.
He already completely released the curse and became a namanari. If Guren and Mahiru couldn't do it through willpower, I doubt Yu could. He has gone the past few months trying to do that, but the demon has only taken over for longer and longer periods of time. Not to mention, Ferid is going to antagonize him every step of the way.

I take it that Ferid did everything he could to speed up the process of making Yuu into a full-blown demon and probably just for the hell of it too. And to antagonize Mika as well. Unless something changes, they'll never be free of him and he probably won't ever let them go either. We'll just have to wait to see what happens!

Yes, indeed! Rather than immediately turning Yu into a demon, Ferid wants to just keep Yu under his thumb by making him almost a demon and therefore holding his humanity hostage. If he became a demon entirely, then he would be less valuable as a hostage and more difficult to control and manipulate.

I thought he would have a Russian surname unless his parents weren't married.

ResidentialPsycho In reply to Elly3981 [2016-07-24 11:47:00 +0000 UTC]
I don't know if his parents were married or not. His mother was bat-shit crazy and appears to be unintentionally abusive (she was quite delusional), and his father was a physically and mentally abusive alcoholic. His dad blamed Mika for his mom's psychosis. They died when he was five. You know how he survived? His mom threw him out of a speeding van while telling him to fly, and she ignored his pleas and and begging for forgiveness and promising to be a good boy. He also begged his dad, who was driving, but he ignored him. She through him out, and he broke a ton of bones and things and barely remained conscious. They were on an interstate or highway or something. Mika barely retained consciousness and saw his drunk dad speed into another vehicle and cause a massive car accident and pile up.
This all comes from fan translations, of course.

Fan translations might be a bit off but I get the gist of it. If Mika's parents died when he was 5, he must have spent 3 years at the orphanage before he met Yuu, right? By throwing Mika out of the car, his mother actually saved his life whether or not that was her intention. Since he doesn't have a Russian surname, I'm guessing his parents weren't married; where I'm from, when a woman has a child out of wedlock, the child would usually take her surname, not their father's. And since his parents died when he was so young, I'm guessing Mika probably never had the chance to learn how to speak Russian. His dad being an alcoholic isn't surprising; people from Russia, Germany, and Scandinavian countries drink a lot since the winters in their countries are look, bleak, and depressing. They usually so to stay warm and relieve boredom. Thanks for the info.

Right. Fan translations must always be taken with a grain of salt! Kagami has also been known to make a mistake here or there, too, and those can be corrected for reprints and overseas translations.
His mama inadvertently saved his life. She kept saying he was special because he had the name Mikaela, and she kept telling him to fly. She seemed to know something about him being a seraph and a Michaela and all that, even though she chose a different spelling for Michaela.
No problemo! Let me know if you have any other questions, but I will only be able to respond once a week or so.

There is a lot of intentional irony. Babies look the same except for their genitalia, so I think that was just his birth name. He appears to be named after the legend of Michaela, which is pretty funny since he really is a Michaela.
Yu being called a demon is pretty funny in retrospect. This series was planned out pretty heavily from the start.

ResidentialPsycho In reply to Elly3981 [2016-08-22 19:48:28 +0000 UTC]
The bands around their necks hold a port in place. That way, the port gets poked instead of them each time they get their blood drawn. Ports are commonly used IRL for patients who have to get medication a lot, and I've seen it most often with weekly or biweekly chemo patients. Chemotherapy really burns the veins and can wear them out. In Seraph, they use the ports to prevent scar tissue from forming at the site of the blood draws. That scar tissue issue is the reason why IV drug users eventually have a really hard time getting blood drawn or finding a good place to give them their drug.
The collars also have metal ID badges at the front. I imagine they have the livestock serial numbers, but not much info has been given about them.

Since it's released on the 4th of every month in Jump SQ, it's released on the 4th (if the 4th is a Monday) or on the Monday following the 4th. This month, it came out on the 5th. I see; I just read it. It's good, I just hate cliffhangers and now I have till wait next month to see what happens next. You say you manage the Owari no Wiki page, right? I have a suggestion on the vampire character profiles: instead of posting 'biological age' and 'chronological age', it might be better to say 'physical age' to describe how old the vampire looks compared to how old they actually are in years.

ResidentialPsycho In reply to Elly3981 [2016-09-15 13:54:00 +0000 UTC]
Since their biology stops when they become true vampires, using a "biological" age is not incorrect. Technically speaking, the physical age and chronological age would probably mean the same thing. "Apparent" and "true" ages are options we could do as well.
In the meantime, I'm not sure that I want to dig through every vampire page and make those changes so long as the meanings are clear. It will be something to consider for the future, though. Suggestions are always welcome--they just tend to entail a lot of work to turn into reality. For the meantime, there are other priorities on my to-do list, such as adding images from the manga and cleaning up all of the character and relationship pages.
If you would like to make a Wiki account, you can wait five days or so and then will be able to edit all/most of the pages freely. I had to put protection everywhere because of spammers and MikaYu hoards.

I've never done wiki before. I just read them when looking for info for other things but I realize they may not always be correct since people are always changing things on wiki. I was a bit confused when I looked up the vampire's ages on your wiki so that's why I suggested the change. Even in real life, people have two ages, their physical age ( how old they look) and chronological age which is their age according to their date of birth, how long they've been alive. I don't want to make any changes to your wiki page that you may not like so it would be helpful if you tell me what changes you are ok with or not. Thanx.

In our medical documentation, we always use "apparent age" and "chronological age." That being said, I never put the vampire ages on there. I'm guessing the person who did either got the information from the Japanese fan books or else made stuff up.
It's not my Wiki, necessarily. I'm just one of the admins there. Since I've been so busy with school, I've been the least active admin since January or so. Everyone else has been working on sorting out the details quite a bit more than me, so you could start a topic in the forum and see what everyone else says.

I am planning on fixing up pages and things in the future, but I will probably wait until I get a new computer. This one keeps crashing on me and likes to pretend it doesn't have a hard drive when I try to turn it back on. One of these days, I'm pretty sure it won't turn on... Once I get a new computer and start working on the Wiki again, I will consider changing the way the ages are written if they're still the same. Nice catch there.
