#98: Past history

A long time ago, I used to be a big Japanese Anime/Manga fanatic (I still am). I worked on my own Manga series called Fushigi no Hime which featured my character, Princess Reyelene, the pen name that I would eventually go by. Unlike the bat character that you've seen in my gallery, Reyelene didn't start out that way.

She was an alien princess of the Elfin race (I invented that name for obvious reasons ). She came from a distant planet called Artemis. She seemed like a typical, mild-mannered and refined princess, until she began having recurring dreams of a young girl name Celeste, who claimed to be Reyelene's "older sister." This girl warns her of the destruction that would befall Reyelene's home planet, but an evil sorceress named Carmen steals her away before she can warn the princess. Eventually, Reyelene's dream becomes a reality when the so-called Carmen comes along, murders her child-hood friend Satoko, and destroys Planet Artemis. Everyone has perished, except for Princess Reyelene herself and her royal advisor, Mariko.

This is the epitome of what my old drawing style looked like. I used a lot of gold-ink pen and treated it more like a traditional-style drawing.
