Description 22:00 – Second Officer David MacDonald is relieved on the bridge by First Officer Frank Munroe. Lookouts in the crow's nest are relieved. General shift change across all quarters. The saboteurs use this opportunity to move into position and retrieve their gear. Temperature is 32 degrees Fahrenheit, sky cloudless, air clear.

22:30 – Ocean temperature now down to 31 degrees Fahrenheit.

22:55 – The elderly liner Jashera stops some 10 to 19 miles north of Serenity due to some minor engine trouble caused by the low temperatures and advises other ships in the area to take precautions. When the Jashera's wireless operator calls up the Serenity, his advice is interrupted by a blunt “Keep out! Shut up! You're jamming my signal! I'm working Cape Savora.” The Jashera's sole wireless operator listens to the Serenity's busy wireless traffic and then at about 23:30 switches off his set and retires for the night, as is the custom.

23:30 – Saboteurs plant their charges in the forepeak, nos. 1, 2 and holds, the mail room and boiler room 6. They are nearly interrupted by a Blazing Blades operative, but she is quickly subdued before she can raise the alarm. The saboteurs make their escape.

23:40 - Serenity is moving at 24.5 knots. Suddenly, a series of dull thuds sound from below. Munroe, taking no precautions activates the lever to close watertight doors below the waterline. The detonations, although jarring to the crew down in the forward area, is not noticed by many of the passengers. Thirty-seven seconds from the detonations, the watertight doors are all closed.

23:50 - During the first ten minutes after the detonations, water rises 14 feet above the keel, forward. First five compartments begin to take on water. Boiler room 6, five feet above the keel is in eight feet of water.

Nope - she was sabotaged, as made reasonably obvious by the entry at 23:30.
