Description I decided to try my hand at modeling some of the buildings and citizens of Ponyville.

I started this model last night using 3dsmax. I call her a work in progress because I have yet to make her a proper texture map or render. Eventually.

UPDATE: Check out the finished model here! [link]

Okay finally a 3D pony that isn't a Gmod pony!
To be fair you have to admit those things look freaking creepy! Especially the front of their faces.

This one is looking really nice, just work a bit on the eyes so the the face doesn't look like it's being eaten up by giant pupils.

If you look closely, the 3D model's eye is round, while the official drawing is more of an almond-y shape.

You're absolutely correct. This was a work in progress shot I left up for posterity. You should check out the final models here: [link]

Thanks to the brony outbreak, hasbro can't say they are lacking for willing and able talent for whatever project they wish to peruse.

Very true. I wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro isn't quite sure what to make of all this. It'll be interesting to see more of how their marketing and merchandise might change (Equestria Girls, etc)

"President Hasbro! People on the internet are making better toys than we are!"

"SHUT
DOWN
EVERYTHING!
.... and get them on our payroll or they face the lawyers!"

I'm not one for buying the associated merch, but they have a somewhat lackluster output for the painfully obsessive adults. Mayhaps they could look into creating hobbyist-level quality range akin to McFarlane, they should just get into contact with their people in Wizards if they want to know how to milk then grown-up kids dry.

Yes. I would love small (between 2 and 4 inch tall, so I'd have room to collect them all ) show accurate vinyl toys! I've looked into 3d printing my own, but the quick test I made looks like it'd cost anywhere from $75 to -$150, per full color sandstone pony. 3d Printing's gotten cheaper over the years, but it looks like it's still out of my range.

You know that if they went all out, a top quality $50 pony figure would quench the thirst... or maybe a limited edition WHITE Celistia! Now that would be a rarity.... err, reference not intended.

Are you planning to rig her and animate her bounding around?

Rivenchan In reply to riumplus [2011-05-21 06:13:12 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps.

Actually, I don't know why I'm being so cagey - yes, yes I am. Eventually. I spent the first part of this week modeling a ponyvillian building (still need to get around to taking screencaps and uploading them) which Stu tossed into Unreal. So I had to start modeling a pony to go with it, since running around ponyville with a huge scifi gun just feels so weird.

Oooh, can't wait to see it when it's done! Eventually, as always with these things

...And now I'm thinking of an Unreal mod with ponies bouncing around Ponyville. Where cupcakes are ammo, fruits/vegetables are medipacks & you shoot rainbow-like beams at each-other. This is... rather disturbing but now I want to play it

Ohgod.

Your comment just made my day, and it's pretty early to say that right now (7:20 AM here).

Well done, Brony. Well done.
