Dylan's version was the first I ever heard (thanks to my father's love of all good music) but I prefer Hendrix's version.

Well, sadly I think they regard what they did with the latest movie as just that. One thing that could be cool is Star Trek: The Computer Animated Series! Then we could have the old cast back, too

Yeah, that is a shame; especially since the new-Ent while is ok, doesnt really match the balanced lines of the original Connie. Its prob too late to try and lecture the writer types that the best and most exciting battles are *naval in look and feel (See ST II on how its done...) not dogfights...

I don't think they'd plunk down that many credits for a station this big if they expected the world to end, next year.... Better to just take all that dough and blow it on Wrigley's Pleasure Planet!

Sure they would - if they figured that space station wasn't part of the world (which almost literally it wouldn't be) and therefore would be a safe haven toride out the apocalypse until the establishment of "Kingdom Come". Even in the Star Trek Universe, you have your lunatic fringe (the episode "The Way to Eden" proves this).
As for Wrigley's Pleasure Planet, I always wondered if that was created by the descendants of the Chewing Gum industry. I kept imaining that all the sexy babes there were twis because of those stupid commercials (double your pleasure, double your fun...)
